“What?” Shaurya stood, his brow marred. “So, you offered yourself as bait?”

“It had to be done, brother. You both don’t deserve to live in fear and angst. And he knew I’d come. That’s why he’d planted that car to trail you. He knew I’d never be able to remain hidden while you both bore the brunt of his ways—he confirmed it too.”

“Your gentle heart has been your greatest weakness, Vihaan,” Aaryan said on a heavy sigh. “I should’ve expected you to be reckless.”

“Tell us, everything,” Avi said.

Vihaan narrated the whole conversation between Dev and him to his family.

“You didn’t need to do that, Vihaan,” Shaurya fumed. “Myra and I were not his targets. Why give him what he wanted all along?”

“Because now you won’t have someone following you everywhere,” Vihaan replied.

Shaurya shared a look with Myra.

“Shit! We wondered why there was no one stationed outside the villa today,” Myra said. “In fact, we weren’t followed at all.”

“And that’s why I need to stay away from Neil for a while. I won’t be able to take him to his classes,” Vihaan explained. “I might just be Dev’s new mark now.”

Avi clutched his arm. “Were you followed?”

“I don’t think so. I’d taken my bike out this morning and no one can recognize me when I’m in my leathers and helmet. So, even if he has spies waiting at each of our restaurants, they won’t recognize me.”

“For how long, though?” Aaryan asked. “By putting yourself in the eye of the storm, you’ve changed the game.”

“I can protect myself and you all,” Vihaan said, “He won’t find me, I promise.”

“Okay,” Aaryan accepted. “However, what I don’t understand is how you got invited to that function in the first place.”

“I’d like to know that too,” Shaurya teased, a twinkle in his eye. “Care to explain all of it?”

Vihaan threw him a nasty look. Shaurya chuckled in response.

Aaryan’s brows knitted together. “Well?”

Vihaan wet his lips as four pairs of eyes stared at him.

“So, it’s like this,” he began, “Um… I’m actually pretending to be Tiya Sood’s boyfriend—”

“—wait, wait,” Avi choked out. Her gaze snapped to Myra. “He’s fake datingyourfriend Tiya? Did you know?”

Myra shook her head. “I just found out some time back when we caught them making out inKomobay’s office.”

“Wait, what?!” Aaryan crossed his arms over his chest. “Blurring the lines of fake dating already, Vihaan?”

“From where I was standing, there was no line,” Shaurya added with a snicker. “The line wasn’t even a dot.”

Vihaan threw him a glare.

“What?” Shaurya smirked. “Don’t get mad at me for stating the truth.”

“What is it with that office?” Aaryan grumbled. “First Shaurya and now you!”

Myra giggled. “If it wasn’t Tiya he was with, I’d find this really funny too.”

“Were they like full on making out?” Avi asked Myra.

“Looked like we interrupted—"
