“I just… I’m feeling bad that you got into this thing with me and it was a complete waste for you.” She slanted him a quick glance before looking straight ahead. “My dad refused to even give you a chance.”

“It wasn’t a waste,” he said quietly. “I got to know you and you are just wonderful.”

Disbelief showed on her face, but she shook her head and looked out of the window.

The rest of the cab ride was filled with silence. All too soon, they reached the restaurant and Vihaan ushered her inside.Komobaywas buzzing as usual when they entered. It was the weekend and the placed was jam-packed everywhere. It was a warm evening, so Vihaan found a place for Tiya at the bar indoors. He ordered her a margarita and a beer for himself.

“How are you going to handle everything with your parents?” Vihaan asked her a few minutes later.

She gulped a huge sip of the drink in her hand. “I haven’t thought of it. I will though.”

“Are you sure you’ll be alright?”

“Why are you worried about me?” she snapped. Then she shook her head. “I think coming out tonight was a bad idea. I’d like to go home now.”

One of his managers signaled him.

“Fine, give me a few minutes and then I’ll drop you home,” Vihaan told her.

“I’m perfectly capable of taking a cab back.”

There was no way he was allowing her to take a cab so late at night when he’d seen that black car trailing after them when they’d left her home earlier.

“Tiya, please give me a few minutes,” he requested. “I’d really like to drop you home.”

“Fine.” She lifted her finger to the bartender to get her another drink.

Leaving her Vihaan went to see what his manager wanted from him.

When he returneda few minutes later, Tiya wasn’t at the bar. He looked around and couldn’t find her. She didn’t even answer her phone when he called her. Worry swelled in his gut. Had she taken a cab despite him asking her to wait for him?

He lifted his phone to call her again just when a flash of green plaid caught his eyes in the open-air section in front of the beach outside. Pocketing his phone, he headed outdoors and found Tiya talking to a man. The man was watching her as if the sun, moon and stars shone from her. It didn’t take a genius to understand the thoughts running through that man’s head, and Vihaan disliked him on sight. The man caught Tiya’s arm and Vihaan’s blood burned. When he drew her closer to whisper in her ear, Vihaan saw red.

Reaching her quickly, Vihaan put a hand on her waist and drew her to his side. Tiya squinted and when she tried to move away from him, he held her tighter. Vihaan threw a menacing look at the man in front of him and he withered, looking at Tiya with his mouth hanging open. Bloody idiot.

“Who the fuck are you?” Vihaan asked him.

“Stop it, Vihaan!” Tiya pushed at his chest, but he didn’t budge even a bit. “Why are you behaving like this?”

He was too angry to respond.

Her lips thinned as she glared at him before addressing the man, “Jash, I’ll see you at the wedding. Say hi to Rajvi for me, please.”

“Are you sure you’ll be okay with him?” the man asked her.

Seeing Vihaan’s narrowed gaze, he backed a few steps and disappeared into the crowd. The minute he was out of sight, Tiya dug her nails into Vihaan’s arm, hard. Wincing, he let her go.

“What in the holy fuck has gotten into you?” she hissed out.

“I didn’t like the way he was looking at you.”

Her jaw dropped for a brief second, before her eyes filled with fury.

“Are you fucking out of your mind right now?” she threw at him. “First, he’s a friend—”

“—a friend who wouldn’t mind getting very physically friendly with you.”
