“Youdidn’t?” Sanjana stormed, her eyes on Aaryan.

Avantika punched Dev’s arm. “How dare you put yourself in danger like that? Wasn’t it enough that Sanjana and I already had guns pointed at us that you had to come and act like a hero when you had no backup plan? What if something happened to you? How would I have lived? Did you think of me? Did you think of Neil?”

Tears fell down her cheeks.

“Hey, hey, look at me.” Dev caught her face. “I’m fine. We are all fine. Vihaan came and saved the day. It’s all over.”

“Never do that to me again,” she yelled. “You hear me?”

Dev yanked her back to his chest and she held him close. From behind them, she heard Aaryan soothe a weeping Sanjana.

“Where’s Neil?” Dev asked Vihaan.

“He’s at Myra’s dad’s place,” Vihaan said. “I left him there only because Shaurya arrived with Myra and Tiya. They couldn’t stay back in Dubai while all of us were here. He was leaving Myra at her dad’s, and then Tiya and he were coming to meet me. I made Shaurya promise to remain there and look after Neil before I came running to you guys. Luckily, from past experience, I know Myra’s dad owns rifles. They’re old, but they served the purpose.”

Dev held his hand out to him. “Thank you.”

Vihaan pulled him in his arms, hugging him. “Welcome back, brother. I’m sorry I took time to come around. In my defence, I needed some time to think over everything.”

Dev’s throat bobbed. “I’m just glad we’re back together again.”

“We are family,” Aaryan said. “We have always been family.”

The three friends stood in a tight circle, their arms around each other, all of them smiling. They were finally together, reunited despite all the trials and tribulations that had come their way.

Avantika’s heart swelled at this sight. Some months back, she wouldn’t have dared to imagine such a thing. Time, however, never remained the same, and the circle of life always came back around in favor of those who were true to one another. Like it had for them. Her family was complete once again.

Two days had passed since his uncle had been revealed as the real monster in all their lives. Avantika and Sanjana had explained everything to them, and Dev still found it hard to believe that his uncle had been elemental in planning the Rajpoots’ destruction.

His uncle had done this because of his own jealousy and insecurity, though Dev couldn’t fathom it. Yet, it had been the root cause of every bad thing that had happened to the Rajpoots and him. Envy was as big a sin as any.

He stared out into the bright afternoon from his living room window. Happiness was his constant companion these days. Avantika and Neil were by his side and his friends, Aaryan and Vihaan, were back in his life. His heart was full. Even Shaurya had warmed up to him, and Myra and Tiya were more than delighted to welcome him into their fold.

They all were living here in the house with him. For the first time in years, his house was filled with sounds of laughter and joy. It was filled with the sounds of family.Hisfamily.

“Hey, what are you thinking?” Avantika’s question brought him out of his musings. He turned to look at her. God! He loved her so much. She was the girl he’d tried to protect all those years ago, and she was the woman he’d protect for the rest of his life.

“I’m still a bit overwhelmed with everything,” he replied honestly. “And I’m so hurt that my uncle turned out to be the bad guy.”

She wrapped her arms around him. He breathed in her familiar scent and felt at peace again.

“I’m just glad it’s over,” she said. “There was something about your uncle that just didn’t sit right with me.”

He touched his forehead to hers. “You were right all along.”

“Let’s just forget about him. We have so much to look forward to now.” She grinned. “I’m so glad my brothers are living here with us.”

“Me too. This house feels like a home, finally.”

“You are my home,” she told him.

“And you’ve always been mine.”

He touched his lips to hers. She melted into him the way only she had ever done. He lost himself in her for long moments.

“Fuck! Do you have to keep making out with my sister in front of me?” Vihaan grumbled. Aaryan and Shaurya were with him. And so were Tiya, Sanjana, and Myra.
