“You know I could slow down the construction if I wanted,” Dev argued. “I am the MD ofKeyStonenow.”

Rajiv tipped his chin at Aaryan. “The Chairman is my personal friend. I do believe he has a bigger say than you.”

“Let’s put that on trial and see.”

Avantika laughed. “Stop it, Dev. Besides, you owe him one.”

Dev frowned. “For what?”

“He looked after us and protected us while you were away.” She gave Rajiv a warm smile.

“He doesn’t owe me for that,” Rajiv said. “It was my pleasure.”

Rajiv left them to go stand with his wife.

“You know,” Dev began. “One of the reasons I began to resent Rajiv even more, was after I learned that he was there for you all when I couldn’t be. I was searching for you, and he whisked you off to Dubai, after which I couldn’t find you for so long. Those years, not knowing where you were and what happened to you, were an endless nightmare.” He shook his head. “Protecting you was my responsibility.”

She put her arms around his neck. “Well, you’re here now, and you have the rest of your life to make it up to me.”

He captured her waist and drew her closer.

“Then let’s go home, and let me start making amends.” He pecked her lips. “Luckily for us, home is just walking distance. I do want to be alone with the future Mrs. Luthra.”

“Sure, and then Vihaan would tease me about it for the rest of my life. No, thank you.”

“Vihaan’s an idiot.”

“And your closest friend.”

He rolled his eyes. “Unfortunately.”

She laughed. It was heart-warming to see Vihaan and Dev slip back into their previous relationship, where they did and said everything to annoy one another. On the other hand, Aaryan and Dev shared the same solid friendship like they had in the past. They understood one another perfectly, sometimes even without words.

Shaurya, too, had warmed nicely to Dev, while Rajiv and Dev still had a long road ahead. But they’d get along, she was certain, for all their sakes. They had no choice.

Dev flicked her nose, bringing her attention back to him.

She smiled. “I love you, Mr. Luthra.”

“And I love you, Ms. Rajpoot. Marry me soon. I can’t wait anymore.”

“Pick a time and date, and I’ll be there.”

He frowned. “You don’t want a fancy wedding?”

“As long as you’re there, waiting for me at the altar, it’s enough.”

He grinned.

She cupped his cheek and kissed his lips. Home…he always felt like home. Her heart filled with love for him. Only him. He was the only man she’d loved since she’d understood what it was to love.

Dev twined their hands and took her back to where her family stood together.

She was exactly where she was meant to be, finally.

Rajiv Mehra watchedall his friends with their better halves. All of them had finally found peace and looked happy. That was all he’d wanted for them for years. For too long, the Rajpoots had stayed hidden from the world. For too long, he’d done his best to protect them and to keep them safe. But now, the past had been laid to rest. No more demons lurked behind his friends. They were all safe and happy. That’s what mattered.

A soft hand wrapped around his waist, and his lovely wife, Sheena, rested her head on his chest. Together they watched Dev and Avantika, Aaryan and Sanjana, Vihaan and Tiya, and Shaurya and Myra. All of them were standing in a circle, chatting excitedly. Tonight had been a night of happy revelations and charted the path to a brighter future for them all.
