“Because?”

“Because once I kiss you…I…I may not be able to stop. I will want more.”

She grinned. “What if I don’t want you to stop? What if I want more as well?”

“A…Avantika, God!” His voice shook as he spoke. “You don’t know what you’re asking for.”

“I know what happens when a guy and a girl want each other, and I want that with you. I want everything with you.”

He moved a long strand of her hair away from her face. “You are so beautiful. Resisting you has been so hard. But you are three years younger than me. Your brothers are my best friends. Aaryan and Vihaan will kill me if —”

She unzipped his jacket and her gloved hand snaked inside, roaming across his covered chest. His breath hitched, making her smile. Clearly, he wasn’t unaffected by her, yet he resisted her so.

“My brothers are not here,” she kissed his cheek. “No one is here. It’s just you and me. Kiss me and show me what it is that you really feel about me.”

His face was a riot of conflicting emotions—doubt, want, need, and resistance.

Her jaw rose in challenge. “I’m waiting, Dev.”

His gaze softened, and he cupped her face, staring into her eyes for a long beat before gently putting his lips on hers. He kissed her mouth for a few seconds. As she’d expected, he began to withdraw. But she was having none of it. She wrapped her arms around him and kept her mouth pinned to his.

His lips parted, and she entered his mouth with her tongue. His surprise lasted for a second before he swooped in and captured her mouth completely, tangling his tongue with hers, giving her exactly what she’d been craving for…for the longest from him.

A low growl escaped his mouth, and he gripped her waist hard, yanking her fully to him. Her pulse sped. Dev claimed her mouth thoroughly, leaving no inch unexplored. Waves of sensation washed over her skin, making her ache for more. Light snow began to drizzle over them as Avantika experienced her first real kiss. It was magical. More than what she’d ever dreamed it to be. It was simply…perfect.

Desire gleamed in his eyes as he shifted to stare down into her face. “Let’s go somewhere I can be alone with you.”

Her heart stuttered. “Really?”

“This was why I was keeping my distance from you, Avantika. But now I’ve tasted you, and I want more. I want itall. Will you give me everything?”

“I want everything from you,” she said boldly.

Quickly they skated back to the entrance, and within minutes, Dev had ushered her into the warmth of his jeep. Dev’s phone rang. It was his father, Pritam Luthra. Dev ignored the call and started the ignition. Minutes later, his father called again. Dev scowled at his screen and disconnected the line.

Dev’s father wasn’t a warm person, and even though he was her parents’ friend and her dad’s business partner, there was something off about him. Something wasn’t quite right, and Avantika was beginning to believe that more and more.

She nibbled her lower lip in worry.

Dev put a finger on her lower lip, tugging it down. “If you continue biting that lip, I will be tempted to stop the car and bite it myself.”

She grinned, her worries vanishing. “And yet you were a paragon of restraint for so long.”

“You kissed me, baby. You unleashed the monster inside me. Now I cannot and will not be stopped until I claim you completely.”

He brought her hand to his mouth and kissed it. His teeth sank into the soft skin of the back of her hand. A low moan escaped her lips just as her body began to hum.

Anticipation buzzed in her veins. Leaning forward, she skated her mouth up his jaw until she bit the soft shell of his ear. His low hiss made her heart quicken.

“Fuck, Avantika,” he growled. “If you keep this up, our first time will be in the back seat of the car.”

She laughed.

Dev looked at her for a brief moment. “God, I love your laugh. I’d do anything to make you laugh and to see you smile for me. Only forme.”

The possessiveness in his tone struck her chest. She washis, just like he washers. Yes, they were young, both of them. But she knew it in the deepest part of her soul that he’d hold her heartforever.

Minutes later, Dev took a side exit inside the forest that bordered both their properties. He parked the car at a spot by the lake in the forest. Large rocks surrounded the lake. Water gurgled around them, and the moon shone high and bright in the sky. It was perfect.
