Fuck! He’d died and gone to heaven.

When he opened his eyes, he found her watching him. Pure pleasure was etched on her face. She leaned forward and dropped a kiss on his chest, right above his heart. Her hands moved to wrap around his back, but he gripped them in his, stopping her.

“I want to hold you,” she said.

“Not today,” he said against her lips.

He erased all thoughts from his brain and focused on her. He linked her hands with his and pushed them above her head, and began to move inside her, slowly at first and then faster. With each stroke, he slid deeper inside her warmth. Desire hummed in his blood, and heat singed his skin as he rocked harder into her.

She wrapped her legs around his waist and moaned as he hit a particular spot.

“Dev,” she sobbed. “It’s so…good. I can’t even…Dev…please…”

His name spilling from her lips was an aphrodisiac. His strokes became more frenzied and hurried as he rushed them both towards that edge. His mouth caught hers, his tongue stroking hers in tune with the rest of his body. Avantika shook, her body tightening around him. Her lips clung to his as she finally came apart in his arms. Her complete rapture fueled his desire.

Heat curled low in his stomach, expanding and spreading through him until his vision darkened. He pumped harder into her and his body stiffened. Pleasure shot up his spine as he emptied inside her.

A long time later, he shifted off her and onto his back. She went with him, resting her head on his chest, both of them breathing hard. Being with her like this… It brought a huge sense of satisfaction, a feeling of no longer being lost. His restless heart had finally found its home. He only wished it was permanent.

Dev had been right. What had happened between them wasn’t just plain sex. It was a volcano that had erupted, a cyclone that had blown them over, and a forest fire that had raged through them. Nothing had prepared him for the earth-shattering impact of being back in her arms.

He sighed as Avantika snuggled into him. He lay on his back, one arm wrapped around her, and played with a long strand of her hair.

“How are you feeling?” he finally asked.

“I’m perfectly fine.” She rested her chin on his chest to look at him. “I’ve never felt like this ever.”

“Ever?”

She kissed his chest. “You know when I told you that there were others after you… There weren’t. There has been no one after you.”

His jaw slackened, and his heart clenched. “Avantika, you mean…”

“…yes, I’ve never taken another lover after you. I tried, but I couldn’t.”

“Why?”

“Because none of them were you.”

Her admission floored him. Fuck! How did she keep shocking him at every turn? Happiness blossomed in his soul.

“Why are you telling me this?” he asked carefully.

She pushed her hair from her face. “Because I don’t know what to believe about you anymore, and I’m tired of denying myself. For some bizarre reason, you’re the only man my body responds to, so I’m going to give my body what it wants…which is you, Dev.”

Hearing his name from her mouth was a joy beyond any. Hope swelled and rose at her admission. He didn’t know he was smiling until she traced his lips with her fingers, lingering at the corner of his mouth.

“It’s just sex,” she said. “Don’t make more of it.”

He scowled. “What we shared wasn’t just sex, and you know it. But I won’t make more of it, for now. I’m happy to take each day as it comes.”

She gulped. “That works for me too.”

“You’re stronger now, you know, quite a spitfire. A hellion.” He caressed her cheek. “I like that about you…this confidence you have. But some parts of you are still the same.”

“Like what?”
