“You will not speak a word of this to anyone, Alessio. You wouldn’t dare.” His fist smashes into my cheek. He’s going to need to have a harder fucking punch than that. Christ, the man’s a fucking bastard.

Hell fucking no, I’m not letting this shit slide anymore. I’m done with this fucker.

I don’t hesitate in swinging back. My fist connects with the asshole’s jaw, and he hits the ground like a fucking ragdoll.

“Touch me again, asshole, and you’ll be six-feet-under. I don’t give a fuck if that means I’ll be joining you; at least your ass won’t be Capo anymore.”

I don’t let him answer, nor do I help him to his feet. I walk past him and out the door.

“There you are,” Rome says as I exit the house. His eyes narrow as he takes in my bloodied face. “Fuck, who have you been fighting with now?”

I shrug it off, not wanting to get into the ins and outs of what’s been going on. “Where’s Dante?”

“He’s looking for our father,” he replies.

The man in question walks out of the house, his strides purposeful as he moves toward me. “You seen Father?”

I shake my head. “No, why?”

“The fucker’s up to something, I know he is. I want to find out what.”

“He’s a bastard. The sooner he dies the better,” I snarl, my anger still palpable.

Romero nods. “I agree. We should take him out now and get it over and done with.”

Dante rolls his eyes. “We have to wait,” he says quietly so only we can hear. “You both know what’ll happen if we take him out without a plan.”

“I don’t give a fuck,” I reply. “Plan, no plan, it doesn't really matter.”

“We need to make sure Dante’s in the position to take over,” Rome sighs. “Once we have that, then we can do it.”

I just hope the cunt dies sooner rather than later.

Chapter 1

Alessio

“Alessio,” Dante says as we enter his office. “I need you to go to Denver.”

I blink. “What the fuck’s in Denver?”

He grins widely at me. “A new pipeline that’ll make us rich. I need you to go down there and check it out.”

“What pipeline?” I ask, knowing damn well my ass will be on a plane before the end of the day and landing in the Centennial State, where it’s no doubt going to be hotter than Hades.

“Your brother,” Makenna, Dante’s wife, says as she breezes into the office, her son on her hip, “has a new contact that is supplying guns. It’s cheaper than who we use already, but we need you to go to Denver and check to ensure he’s not trying to play us.”

I chuckle. “Hell, anyone who does that has a fucking death wish.”

My brother married Makenna Gallagher—whom we all thought was the princess of the Irish Mafia. Turns out, she was the fucking boss. She is the boss of the entire East Coast, and she’s one of the most—if notthemost—powerful criminal bosses in the world. She is a force to be reckoned with, and beingmarried to Dante has only further enforced the power she has. That they have.

Makenna nods in concession. “That may be so, Ales, but we all know that where money is concerned, people get stupid, and stupid people make stupid moves.”

She’s not wrong there.

“Not to mention, I’m not sure how much we can trust Joe Ranieri, no matter what Malcolm says.”

Makenna’s family is beyond ridiculous. She has four brothers, one being a half-brother, and she has four nephews and four nieces—not to mention all the damn grand-nieces and nephews she has. And then there’s her cousins, who are in Chicago. All the Gallagher family are powerful, whether they have the name or if they’re working for the family. It’s a wonder anyone can keep things straight. I’m lost once I get past her oldest nieces and nephews.
