“GET OUT!”
“Okay, sheesh. You’re feisty in the mornings. Don’t get your panties in a twist. Oh, that’s right, you’re not wearing any at the moment.” I left before she threw the soap at my head.
I closed the door behind me and almost bumped into Lila.
“What were you doing in there?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “I needed to shave,” I told her.
“Isn’t Darcy taking a shower in there?”
“She sure is,” I said.
Lila’s jaw dropped. “You’re a jerk, Thane Erickson. You can’t just walk in on someone who’s showering.” She punched my arm and shook her head.
“Ouch. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before,” I reminded her.And something I definitely wanted to see again.
“I hope you deleted that video. What were you thinking?”
“That someday it could come in handy,” I explained.
“I don’t know what to do with you. Sometimes you’re just not a very nice person. Stop terrorizing my friend and leave her alone,” Lila told me, her cheeks reddening with anger.
“Okay, sis. Relax. It’s all just for fun,” I assured her.
“I’m sure it’s not fun for her.”
“Did she tell you she got me back? Make sure you reprimand Darcy for her despicable behavior as well.” I grinned.
“You two seriously have to get over whatever your problem with each other is. It’s getting boring,” Lila said as she entered her bedroom.
The door to the bathroom opened, and Darcy appeared, her eyes as dark as her wet hair. “Stay away from me.” She went to her bedroom and slammed the door.
I stood there momentarily and thought about how incredibly sexy she looked. It didn’t matter if she was just hanging around with no makeup on with wet hair or done up all nice. She was probably one of the sexiest women I’d ever come across. As I returned to my room, I scolded myself for noticing her sex appeal. Lila was right. I had to stay the hell away from that devilish woman.
After breakfast, we all headed to the skating rink. Lila and Evan ensured that Darcy and I didn’t ride in the same car. I was thankful, though I couldn’t help but wonder how she would react to me at the skating rink.
It was as I expected. She ignored me completely. But that was okay because I was going to change that. I skated over to her and had to stop myself from laughing when I saw what trouble she was in. She was all wobbly as she tried to balance herself, gripping the edge of the boards.
“Get away from me,” Darcy said immediately. She tried to straighten up and let go of the board, but her skates kept slipping, causing her to lose her balance again.
“Is this the first time you’ve ever skated?”
She brought her eyes up to meet mine. “Yes, hotshot, it is. Okay, now go bother someone else.”
“Is that the way to treat the person who is going to teach you to skate?” I asked her.
“Seriously? You think I will let you teach me to skate?” Darcy said, raising her eyebrows.
I did the only thing I could think of. I took her arm and skated her away from the boards. “First rule: You’ll never learn to skate if you don’t let go of the boards,” I told her.
“Thane, stop it. Leave me alone,” Darcy snarled.
I held my hands up. “I was just trying to help you, grumpy pants.”
Darcy gave me the finger and turned away from me and somehow made it back to the boards without falling.
That was fine with me.
