“I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you,” Thane said sarcastically.
I gave him the finger, and he laughed.Did nothing ever bother him?
I finished all around the window, baseboards, closet, and door, so I went to wash the brush I was using. Unfortunately, Thane decided to follow me to the sink.
“You’re doing a fine job,” he said.
“I’m not in the mood to talk to you,” I told him, not risking a glance at him.
“You’reneverin the mood to talk to me. But you’re usuallyalwaysin the mood to fuck me,” Thane said, the level of sarcasm rising. “Care to come over tonight? It might help loosen you up and get you out of the funk you’ve been in.”
“Are you for real?” I asked, walking back through the kitchen to go upstairs.
“Why do you have to be like this?” Thane asked.
I stopped at the bottom of the stairs so that no one would hear us. “I’m sorry if the focus of my life isn’t banging you. Leave me alone,” I warned.
He followed me upstairs but said nothing more. The rest of the painting party went off without him coming to talk to me again, but he stared incessantly at me, and no matter where I was, I could feel his eyes boring a hole into my flesh.Why do I find it sexy?

I was sorelieved when Thane finally left, but my relief was short-lived because as soon as I came into the living room, four women were looking at me.
I stopped. “What?”
“Fess up,” Shellene said.
“What are you referring to?” I asked.
“You and Thane. What’s going on between you two?” Remi asked.
I looked at Lila, who merely shrugged.
“Nothing’s going on. Why would anything be going on with Thane and me? I don’t even like him,” I explained.
I looked from Remi to Shellene to Lila. They all had the same expression on their faces. Disbelief. They didn’t believe me. I didn’t believe me, so how could I ask them to? I threw my hands up and sat down.
“You don’t have to like someone to have sex with them,” Lila reminded me. “God knows that several times Evan and I were together, I thought he was an asshole. Even now, after we’ve fought and kind of made up, but I still don’t like him, we still have passionate sex.” She looked down at her growing belly. “Hopefully, that won’t change as I get bigger.”
“Nonsense, Evan is so into you it’s ridiculous,” I assured her. “And I know.”
“So, you’re really having sex with Thane?” Shellene asked, clarifying.
I looked over at her and breathed out loudly, defeated. There was no way that I could win against these girls. “It seems that way. Had, as in no longer having,” I corrected her.
“Ha-ha. Yeah, right. Tell us another lie,” Remi said.
“I’m not,” I defended myself.
“Spoken like someone who will be in the sack with Thane before the end of the week,” Remi predicted.
“No way.” I folded my arms over my chest.Who am I kidding? She’s probably right.“I’m going to go to a group for that. It will be called, ‘don’t sleep with your friend’s brother again.’”
Shellene looked over at Lila. “Is it weird knowing she’s sleeping with your brother?”
“Slept! Notsleeping,” I corrected again, frustrated.
“Yes, it’s creepy that she’s sleeping with my brother. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Give me some time to digest this,” Lila said, looking at me thoughtfully.
