“Bye, Cassie.”

The look in his eyes was enough to do me in again, but I reached for the door with my hand and left quickly before anything else happened.

That night, dinner felt like a real date. We laughed and talked, and I told him a little about myself which was loads more than I usually told anyone. I’d been too late to see Camilla because she was in bed before Brad had arrived to pick me up, but I hoped to see her in the morning.

I was already planning to stay the night, and the way Brad had looked in the kitchen, towel over his shoulder doing the sauté motion with a pan, had me enthralled. The food was delicious, and we sat with our wines in the living room for a little while.

“Thank you. That was amazing, Brad.”

“I’m glad you liked it.” He was watching me again, with heat in his eyes, and I had to pretend like it didn’t bother me.

Even if I was going to pieces inside, I didn’t need to fall apart in front of him. I still had my life, who I was, who I wanted to be.

“I’ll tell you something else you don’t know,” I said suddenly, and he smiled.

“All right, then. Shoot.”

“I’m working toward getting my PhD. I’m between classes at the moment.”

“Wow, that’s awesome, Cassie. Good for you. Soon you’ll be Doc Will.”

I laughed aloud then, my head thrown back. It felt good to laugh. I laughed with my friends a lot, but I thought I was always holding back a bit. Something kept me from enjoying myself truly, like I always had to be ready for something or on high alert.

But in that moment, with Brad at his house, or mansion-apartment rather, I was letting go.

He stood and took my hand. “Come with me.”

He led me away from the living room, but I turned back. “What about cleaning up?”

“Later,” he said with a chuckle, pulling me in close as we walked down the hall to his palatial bedroom.

“Fuck,” I said, looking around at the pristine white. White walls, white art, white sheets. Glass shower doors and closet doors.

The man had money, and it was starting to make a familiar prickle down my spine. But he distracted me with a kiss, pulling my back against him and kissing down my neck. I turned my neck to give him space, and I closed my eyes.

When he turned me around, I took control, undressing him and pushing him down on the bed. In a matter of minutes, we were naked, and I was on top, sliding down his hard cock until it filled me completely.

I had taken control, but the feel of him inside me again was making my limbs weak. He grabbed my ass, and as his heated eyes looked into mine, he drove the rhythm. I cried out as he pulled me close, kissing my neck while he thrust from below. I came in seconds, trying to hide my screams as he kept thrusting into me until I came a second time, now a complete pool of mush.

I thought I must have blacked out because I woke hours later, sunlight streaming in through the bedroom window, and I leaned up, to see a robe laying over the end of the bed, Brad not there. I got out, feeling deliciously sore and put on the robe, walking out into the lounge.

There I saw Brad back in the kitchen with Camilla sitting on the counter across from him. When I came into the room, she cried out, “Cassie!” and jumped down, racing toward me. She grabbed my legs in a big hug, and I saw Brad smiling at me from across the room.

Geez, could this be my life?

BRAD

I was more content than I’d been in years as I made breakfast while Cassie and Camilla sat at the counter playing a game. When she’d first emerged from the room in a white fluffy robe and lovely tousled hair, something new blipped in my heart.

I could fall in love with this woman.

The thought both thrilled and scared me, and I quickly pushed it away as I said, “Breakfast is ready!”

“Pancakes are the best!” Cassie said, jumping down from the chair and holding Camilla’s hand as they walked to the table. “Sorry I’m not better dressed, Camilla.”

“Silly! You don’t have to dress for breakfast.” She pointed at her pajamas.
