“She just left one day, didn’t want us anymore. We’ve had no contact with her in years. And I know it’s a lot to ask you to be with me because I’m kind of like a package deal, but I hope that won’t deter you. I would never want you to feel burdened by me having a child.”
Smiling, she put her arms around my neck, and my heart skipped a beat.
“It wouldn’t be a burden, Brad. Camilla’s awesome.”
“Yes, but I know you don’t want children of your own,” I began, but she cut me off.
“True, but she isn’t my own. She’s a part of you.” Looking up at me, she slid her hands to my face. “And I want to be with you too. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since, well since the very second we met.”
“I love yo—” I didn’t let her finish before my mouth was on hers, pushing her against the door as I kissed her, hard.
This time, I wasn’t going to let her go.

CASSIE
Ok, so this is a workplace, but so what? I will kiss the man I love in an empty lab room.
And God, it was a kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck so tightly as he kissed me, practically making my muscles melt with his expert tongue and soft, yet firm mouth. He lifted me up, pressing me against the door, and I wrapped my legs around his waist.
I wanted him here. Now. And I thought about it for a few seconds as he kissed down my jaw to my neck, his one hand coming to grab a breast under my clothin.
“Fuck,” I said, breathless. “We’d better stop. Since someone’s locked us in here, I know they’ll probably be waiting for us to sort everything out.”
He breathed out, leaning his forehead against mine. “Yeah, I guess.” I smirked at the feel of how hard he was. “Tonight, then. Please don’t make me wait.”
I chuckled, sliding down his body purposefully too slowly. “I don’t want to wait either, you know. Tonight it is.”
He adjusted himself, and we knocked on the lab door.
“All good in here! Whoever’s waiting!” I called, and the door unlocked instantly.
We opened it to find Jason and Stevie on the other side, watching us with matching grins. I would have been angry, but I was too high on the love. All the love. Finally, it was happening to me. And this time, I wouldn’t let him run away.
“What’s going on?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at Stevie, and she glanced at Jason.
“So, Jason came in a couple days ago and asked if I’d help him with an idea. Why didn’t you tell me about all this?” She looked between me and Brad, and I pulled my hand out of his grasp.
“Sorry. I just wasn’t ready. But I promise I’ll tell you everything.”
Brad said, “What plan? You knew about this, Jason?”
Jason laughed. “Yeah, well, I have my new half-sister to thank for it. It was actually all her idea. She told me all about you and Cassie, and she knew something was wrong. She wanted you to get back together. So, I helped it out a bit. I assume everything turned out all right?” He asked, looking a little nervous.
“Yeah, lucky for you,” Brad said, putting his hand on the small of my back. “Pretty risky, though. I had no idea how it was going to go.” He glanced at me, and I blushed at the heat in his gaze, realizing we were being watched.
“Thanks, Jason. I know it’s probably weird for you,” I said, and I noticed Stevie watching him with more than her usual look.
A little idea came to me, and I tucked it away for a later time.
“It should be, but it’s actually not. I just want my dad to be happy. For the both of you to be happy.”
“Thanks, Jason.” Brad pulled his son into an embrace, and Jason was surprised, but he relaxed into it.
I knew I was witnessing a big moment, and I squeezed Stevie on the arm. “You’re sneaky,” I whispered, and she chuckled.
“Always, my friend. Look, I’m happy for you, but you know it’s going to spread all over the lab.”
