It’s just Alex and Jimmy now. Alex passes the cards for Jimmy to shuffle and distribute. The tension in the room is thick enough to cut. All eyes are glued to the game being played between the two last standing men. And just like we all expected, Alex lays down a Royal Flush.

I raise my gaze to the imbecile sitting across from me and lean back into my chair. I’m a big guy. Tall and broad. Not to be messed with. My coal dark eyes know how to freeze a man’s blood. And that’s exactly the stare I’m using onfuckingJimmy Bennett right now.
He’s a sweaty mess of shaking hands, and I feel the sliver of patience I had left slip away.
“You owe me two-hundred-thousand dollars. Do you have the money?”
He shakes his head, blubbering unintelligibly.Fucking hell.
“When can you come up with it?”
Still nothing comprehensible coming out of his mouth.
Without removing my eyes from JimmydipwitBennett, I command, “clear the room.”
The other players hurry to obey in a shuffle of chairs. But before Bennett’s gorgeous companion can make her way out, I pin her in place with an intense stare.
“Not you.”
Her full mouth falls open. And for the first time since they walked in, I allow myself to enjoy the view.Christ, she’s beautiful. And fucking curves for fucking days.
She’s tall for a woman. Maybe five nine. With warm tawny skin, big brown eyes, a cute, round nose, soft features, and that mouth… A mouth tofuckand worship. A mouth to spend hours on. Kiss and lick and suck and bite… get drunk on. Make scream for me. And that full rack. That round ass.And the way she’s been fucking staring at me?!I think I know exactly how Jimmy Bennett will pay his debt…
“Are you two together?”
They answer at the same time. Jimmy says ‘yes’, as she denies it. The corner of my mouth hooks up in amusement.
“Which is it?”
“I’m not with this idiot,” she deadpans.
I watch as Jimmy’s fear recedes for a second, leaving room for anger.
“Fuck you, you frigid bitch. It’s not like we were ever really dating, anyway.”
“My point exactly,” she replies with a calm I can’t help but admire.
My girl crosses her arms, involuntarily pushing out her ample chest. And I’m two seconds away from throwing all decorum aside and laying her on the poker table with her legs wide open and- I force myself to turn my attention back to Jimmy.
“How much time do you need to pay?”
His eyes bounce all over the room.
“I… I don’t…”
I nod and push on my chair’s handles to stand. I slowly close the distance between us. He’s not a small guy, but it’s hard for anyone to compete with my size. Towering a few inches above him, my powerful frame dwarfing him.
“You’re not allowed here or in any other of my establishments. Don’t bother trying other places, either. I’ll spread the word.”
He nods frantically. I take his hand in mine and bend back one finger.
“I didn’t hear you answer.”
Before Jimmy Bennett gets a chance to open his mouth and answer, I break one of his fingers. The sound of bones cracking mixing with Bennett’s loud shriek.
