Bossy Boss Man.

She had to grin. Who had put in the name for Zander? Miles?

Should she text him? Maybe she should be taking this time away from him to get some damn perspective.

Keira:How is the job going?

Well, that was generic enough, right? There was no answer. Crap. Maybe she should have told him who it was.

Keira:It’s Keira. Your prisoner.

Dork. She was such a dork. Still nothing and she put the phone on the coffee table and switched on the television, more for the noise than anything else. When the phone buzzed, she jumped half a foot in the air.

Such a dork.

She picked it up, nearly fumbling it.

Bossy Boss Man:Hello, Little Thief who is not my prisoner.

Relief flooded her.

He was all right.

Oh, Keira, you’re in trouble.

Bossy Boss Man:Webb said you missed me. So I had him get you the phone. You like it?

Keira:I wouldn’t say I missed you exactly.

Bossy Boss Man:He said you were crying like a baby.

That skunk! What the hell? She hadn’t been crying like a baby.

Bossy Boss Man:Little Thief? You still there?

Keira:Webb is a liar.

Bossy Boss Man:So you don’t miss me?

She didn’t answer.

* * *

Bossy Boss Man:Did you eat today?

Bossy Boss Man:How is your tooth? Are you in any pain?

Bossy Boss Man:Did you sleep last night? Are you still peeing a lot?

She tried to resist. She really did. But she couldn’t seem to manage it.

It was like an illness. Or an addiction. She knew that talking to him wasn’t a good idea. That all it was doing was tying threads between them. And every day that passed, those threads grew stronger.

And yet, those days where she hadn’t been able to communicate with him had been far worse.

Bossy Boss Man:Little Thief? Answer me.

Ooh,she could practically hear him speaking. He’d get all growly and his voice would go even deeper. Was it messed up that she was turned on right now?
