Suddenly, she found herself lifted and directed to a corner of the room. She’d never been put in a corner in her life. Of course, if her father wanted to punish her, he’d hit her or berate her.

But she still wasn’t sure about this. What was he doing? Was he staring at her? How the heck was she going to write fifty lines?

“Baby girl, you’re supposed to be thinking about what you did wrong. This is reflection time.”

Reflection time? That sounded like a load of bullcrap to her. Who wanted to think about the mistakes they’d made? Bury them deep and move on, that’s what she did.

Except, they kept coming up at the worst time, didn’t they? Like when she thought about the mess of her life up until this point. Every move along the way where she’d mis-stepped.

Yep, best not to think about it.

“That’s ten minutes, baby girl. Come here.”

Turning, she practically threw herself at him. He surrounded her in safety, chasing away the dark thoughts and guilt.

“Hey, you’re trembling.”

“Just cold.”

“Little Thief,” he growled.

Oh. Crap.

“It’s a habit. I’m so used to doing it I don’t even know when I’m lying anymore!” she wailed. “I do it without thinking.”

“All right. We’ll work on it. Try to tell the truth, okay?”

“Even when the truth is kind of ugly?”

“Even then.”

Ugly truths. That was all she really had, didn’t she?

Fuck.

He ran his hand up and down her back, giving her time. Then he drew back and guided her over to the table, where he’d set up a piece of paper and pen.

“Number each line so it’s easier to count.”

Right, so it was easier for him. What about her? Resentment bubbled in her tummy and she had to push it down. It wasn’t fair. He didn’t know.

So why not tell him?

Because it was humiliating.

“I’m not doing it.”

“Excuse me?” Zander asked.

“I mean, wouldn’t you rather do something else?” she suggested, trying to sound all sexy and sophisticated. Kind of hard to do in overalls and fluffy slippers.

“What are you doing? Why are you making that face? Is something wrong with your eyes? They’re fluttering.”

Yeah. Her flirting sucked.

Time for a change in plan.

“I want a spanking instead.” Turning, she grabbed the side of the table, bending so her ass was up in the air. This didn’t feel right.
