“You know it is,” she squeaked. “That you are.”
“Come here. You haven’t kissed me yet.”
“I’m not doing that.”
“Excuse me?” His voice lowered, and a shiver ran through her.
Holy. Heck. Balls.
“Is that not one of your rules? To come to me whenever you walk into a room or I do? To kiss me? To stay close to me?”
“Yes . . . but . . . but you never said you’d be half-naked.”
“Think about me as half-dressed.”
“That doesn’t make it any better!”
“Come here, Little Thief. You won’t like it if I have to come get you.”
She grumbled to herself as she moved toward him. He was impossible. Insane. Did he really expect her to come to him every time?
“What’s wrong?” he murmured as she stilled about a foot away from him. “You can touch me, Little Thief. As much as you like.”
Her breath caught in her throat and, to her shock, she threw herself at him. He caught her with a shocked laugh.
“Well, I wasn’t expecting you to throw yourself at me. But this is nice.” He drew her up into his arms and she wrapped her legs around his waist.
Leaning in, he kissed her gently. The kiss was long and warmed her from her toes to the top of her head.
“I can’t wait until you’re ready for me to fuck you.”
She blushed. She wasn’t used to someone who was quite that blunt. The guys she’d been with could be crude, but mostly they’d just get on with things without talking.
“We could do that now.” She’d never wanted sex this much in the past. But then, none of her partners measured up to Zander. In more ways than one, she was thinking.
“No,” he told her. “I’m not taking you until you need me so badly that you’re begging for my cock.”
She wasn’t sure that would ever happen.
“Time for bed.”
“It’s too early to go to bed. I won’t sleep.” Although she was feeling kind of exhausted.
He eyed her. “I think you will.”
“I won’t. Can I read for a while?”
“I have an idea. Why don’t I read to you?”
“You . . . you mean you want to read me one of my books?”
“Yeah. Is that all right?”
“I don’t know. I don’t really want you getting any ideas from them.”
His eyes sparkled as he grinned. “Well, now I’m going to have to read them.”
He walked to the bed and set her down before drawing back the covers. As she climbed in, he gave her a sharp smack on the ass.
