“Earn some money out of making a spectacle of me.”

“I didn’t do anything to you.”

No, but he wasn’t going to help her either.

Stop it, Keira. You can’t rely on anyone else. No one is going to help you.

Some of the Iron Shadows guys had seemed all right until Carl had told her about some of the things they did to women in their private club house out the back of Reaper’s.

That had stopped her from trusting Reyes.

Just showed you, a guy might seem decent, be a good boss, but be a complete scum-sucker in private.

But had Carl been telling her the truth? Maybe that was a lie too.

Fuck.

“Jeez, boss,” the woman said, chewing on her gum as she stared down at Keira. “What were you thinking?”

“What?” Zander asked.

“Your knots need some serious work. You’ve cut off her circulation.”

Zander gave the other woman a disgusted look. “I didn’t tie her up.”

“Thank fuck for that, cause I was worried you’d lost your touch.”

“That’s not likely to happen.”

His touch? Did he regularly tie people up? Who were these other two? Did they work for him?

“So who beat her and tied her up?” the woman asked, blowing a bubble.

“Kansas did,” Zander replied. “Must have knocked her out, too. She claims she woke up like this and he was gone. Says she thinks he was getting a vehicle and heading to Mexico.”

“Hmm, think she’s telling the truth?” the woman asked as the big, cold-eyed man just stared at her. Was he even breathing? Was he real? Maybe he was some sort of robot? If her hand was free she might pinch him to see.

Probably a good thing that she was tied up.

“Not sure,” Zander said.

“I’m right here, you know,” she muttered. And she was getting more and more creeped out by the fact that the big guy was just standing there, staring at her. Had he even blinked once?

“What do you think, Ammo?” the woman slapped the giant on the arm. “Think she’s a liar or telling the truth?”

“Liar.”

Awesome. Even when she was telling the truth, she was branded a liar. Well, screw them. It wasn’t like she cared what they thought of her.

She’d never see them again after they handed her over to whoever hired them.

Whatever happens to you doesn’t matter. All that matters is saving Eden. You made this mess, now fix it.

But what about her sister?

She didn’t know what to do anymore. Everything was a mess. Every man in her life just seemed to fuck things up more.

Why did she make the same mistake time after time? What was wrong with her?
