He broke off a piece of croissant. Shit. It looked so good. And her mouth was now watering. Her stomach cramped.

Damn it.

How could he dare her? How was she supposed to refuse a dare?

Reaching out, she grabbed hold of the piece of croissant and stuffed it into her mouth.

“Good girl,” he murmured to her.

Shit. Why did those words send her insides dancing?

“Now chew for me.”

Chew? He wanted her to chew? She was just hoping if she held it in her mouth long enough, it would break down and she’d be able to swallow it.

Yeah, you haven’t got that sort of luck, Keira.

Only sort of luck she had was the really bad kind.

“Chew, Little Thief. I’ll give you a reward if you do.”

What sort of reward? Damn, why did that make her want to do whatever he said?

Maybe because the reward you’re thinking of is him between your legs, eating you out.

Hussy.

She attempted to chew before crying out in pain. Before she could get up and race to the bathroom to spit it out, his big hand was under her mouth, another hand against her back as he crouched next to her.

“Spit it out. That’s it. No, don’t try to move. Spit.”

But that was so gross! She didn’t want him to think she was disgusting.

“Spit,” he said in that super powerful voice that made her want to obey. Even as she fought it.

But in the end, she knew he wasn’t going to give up, so she spat into his hand.

“That’s so gross. I’m so sorry,” she said miserably.

“This? This is nothing. And it’s my fault for making you eat. Stay there.”

He moved into the bathroom and she heard the water running before he returned with clean hands and a cloth.

Crouching again, he reached for her with the cloth, and she flinched back.

“Easy,” he soothed. “I won’t hurt you.”

“Sorry.”

“No, I should be sorry.” He carefully wiped her face. His touch was so gentle that she had to drop her gaze to hide her tears of surprise and longing.

How would it feel to have someone care for her like this? What did it say about her relationships before now that she’d never had someone do this for her? And here was a man who barely knew her, cleaning her up and making her breakfast.

Fuck. Her life was sad.

Best not think about it too hard or it would make her depressed and she already had enough going on.

“It’s your tooth, isn’t it?”
