How did he read her so easily? It was infuriating and surprising.
With a sigh, she reached out and he gently drew her up.
“Thanks,” she muttered without looking at him. It felt like every time she looked at him, she started to feel something more for him.
Something she really couldn’t afford to feel.
She moved to the bathroom and quickly used the toilet. It wasn’t until she was staring at herself in the mirror, that she realized what he’d said.
She’d been sleeping during the day?
Sedation?
Oh. Fuck.
Memories rushed back at her. That bastard had made her go to the dentist. She’d only gone because she thought there might be an opportunity to escape. But instead, they’d ended up in some barn. But she couldn’t remember anything about the procedure.
That was both a good thing and a bad thing.
If she’d been singing while under the influence of whatever Lochlan had given her, then what else had she been doing?
What had she been saying?
Oh. Fuck.
“Keira? You okay in there?” He knocked on the door. “Do you need help?”
“No,” she told him quickly, aware there was no lock on the door. The last thing she needed was him thinking it was okay to barge in on her while she was in the bathroom.
Taking a deep breath, she let it out slowly.
Think, Keira, think.
What the heck had she done? She closed her eyes. But everything was a blur after Lochlan had given her the IV sedation.
Lord.
What if she’d told Zander how she actually felt about him? What if she’d said something about her desires? Her wishes?
She was in trouble.
“Keira? I’m coming in if you don’t come out.”
Putting a scowl on her face, she stomped over to the door and opened it. “What does a girl have to do to get some privacy around here?”
He peered down at her thoughtfully. Then he looked over her shoulder.
“What are you looking for?”
“I’m not sure. What was taking you so long?”
“I was pooping.” The excuse was out of her mouth before she thought it through.
Damn, why had she said that?
