His knot began to swell, the pressure forcing my inner walls apart and locking him inside me.

Friction built as he rammed into me harder, tension pulled tight in my core with every thrust. He rolled his fingers over my clit, letting his claws graze my inner thigh.

“Ash!”

The Beast snarled, driving into me as deeply as he could. It was the feeling of his cock throbbing inside me that tipped me over the edge. The pressure broke, exploding in a burst of pleasure that rippled through my body, each spasm more powerful than the last.

Ash groaned when he felt me clench around him, his cock pulsing harder than ever. He gripped my hips, pulling me onto his cock and releasing a flood of come deep inside me. I heard the wet noises as he thrust several more times, driving his seed deeper into my body, the knot keeping it there.

“Salem, I adore you,” he whispered roughly, pulling me against him. I felt his heart beating against my back, the quick breaths he took as he drove the heavy knot deeper inside me.

He laid down, holding me against him carefully so the knot would not hurt me. I wriggled a few more times, the aftershocks of my orgasm ripping through me again and making me shiver.

“You’re mine now,” I told him, stroking the hands clasped around my abdomen.

“I am,” he purred in agreement, nuzzling against my neck. “Forever. There is nothing I would not do for you.”

I basked in the afterglow of the orgasm, steadied by the warmth of my Beast. I could’ve happily laid here all day, locked against him with his knot, full of the werewolf and his seed.

It was so hard to believe that I had once been doomed. Now all was well. They were mine, and I was theirs.

I would fight tooth and claw to keep them. I would never let them go.

Chapter Twenty-Two

I felt fully settledinto myself now that my three Beasts belonged to me. Even the monster living just under my skin seemed happy.

My life was finally on the path I would’ve chosen for myself.

They were up and hunting when I finally woke up, digging my way out of my nest. I was even happy that I’d have fresh meat to share with the other women tonight, which might make them happier about living in the Wood as well.

My crow kept my company as I washed. Torr had retrieved my dark fur cloak from the Wood where I’d lost it, and I snuggled into it afterwards, feeling clean and like I had a new start at life.

I turned towards the Wood, a strange feeling gnawing at me despite my happiness.

I felt there was something left undone. How many others like Freya and Aldis remained in Vostok? Had they really been the only ones who had wanted to escape that life?

The feeling wouldn’t subside until I let myself into the Wood, the crow fluttering over my head.

He made noises until I left out a crust of bread for him, then I continued on alone. The monster within me was pushing against the bars of her cage, and the prickling feeling of my sixth sense wouldn’t subside. The Wood seemed far too quiet today.

The crow fluttered to a branch overhead and let out a sharp caw. I paused, listening, and heard the sound of crackling leaves in the distance.

What I found wandering the Wood was not what I expected. A woman from Vostok, one of the village maidens, stopped dead in her tracks.

Mercy and I stared at each other. She was filthy, shivering, clutching a torn robe around her thin shoulders. Leaves were tangled in her long red braids and dirt streaked her face.

“Salem?” she asked uncertainly. “Are you… real?”

I was speechless for a moment. How had she gotten this far? What had happened to drive her away? “I’m real.”

I reached out for her, and once she took my hand, feeling the solidity, a tear cut through the grime on her cheek.

“Thank god,” she whispered. “I’ve been… seeing things. I thought none of them were real. I thought I’d die out here.”

“What happened?” Without thinking, I took off my fur cloak and draped it around her shoulders. Mercy sniffled, wiping her nose on her sleeve.

“Salem, it’s bad,” she said. “Anyone they suspect of… of being close to you, of being friendly with the Beasts… they’re killing them.” That was when she burst into real tears. “I don’t know how long I’ve been out here. Maybe three days? They accused Ilya and Socha of sneaking supplies to you and—and hung them.”
