“Uh. Uh. Uh. Uh.” Nothing made sense any longer as I screamed out the sheer joy my system was experiencing, but the pleasure overrode the sense of insanity.

“That’s it. Yes. That’s it.” Every action rough, he pounded harder, his cock swelling as he took what he wanted.

But that still wasn’t enough.

There was no hesitation, no warning before he pulled out once again, this time driving the tip of his shaft into my dark hole.

Pain exploded into every cell as he pushed past the tight ring of muscle, claiming my ass like he’d already claimed my soul. There was no sound as I opened my mouth, the anguish just as pleasant as everything else had been, the sensations allowing me to feel alive. As I grew accustomed to his harsh actions, another wave of bliss forced me to succumb once again.

There was nothing like the way he took me, using every inch of my body. I wanted to hate myself, to shut down the powerful rawness of our connection, but that would never be possible. I needed his presence, his scent tattooing my skin.

There would be no denying him.

As the minutes continued, the tick-tocking of beats sounding off in my brain, nothing else mattered but the here and now.

Exhaustion settled in and when he was finally close to releasing, I couldn’t take my eyes off the painting. In those few seconds as he erupted, his roar filling the dense space, my mind reeled from the understanding that together, we could fight the demons.

Apart, we would be destroyed.

Unless the burning power of our heated connection would be our ultimate demise.

There was no doubt we were facing the moment of utter damnation.

Or one of death…

CHAPTER4

“Obsession is the single most wasteful human activity, because with an obsession you keep coming back and back and back to the same question and never get an answer.”

—Norman Mailer

The woman had to die.

At least that’s what I’d told myself several times, only in the last few days, the words had become the ultimate lie. She was far too important to end her life. Instead, I would protect her with my life.

And that could be the biggest betrayal of all.

But to whom, my enemy or to myself?

I’d waited, allowing three months to elapse. But the desire to have her as mine had only increased. I’d become obsessed. At this point, I no longer cared.

I wanted what should be forbidden. I hungered to the point I was no longer myself. Everything about Eden had surprised me. Her intelligence. Her spunk. Her tenacity. Damn it. I curled my fingers, digging my nails into my palms. Nothing had been able to stop the increasing madness growing inside.

Eternal beauty.

She reminded me of an angel sent from above, exuding radiance from a distance. It was as if the sun had created a special halo that trailed behind her, eliminating any storm she might encounter. Even her name was a nod to the heavens.

My beautiful Eden. Even whispering her name brought out the sadist, an unrelenting desire that threatened to consume all that I’d become. But I no longer gave a damn.

What a pity she was being hunted by a predator, a man hell-bent on revenge.

I fisted my hand, fighting the demons inside, crushing visions nearly driving me to the point of madness. No, it wasn’t time to catch my exquisite little bird, clipping her wings so she could never fly away. First, I would enjoy the hunt before basking in the capture.

I’d wondered what she’d thought when my gifts had stopped arriving. Had she pined away for more?
