“Women tend to think that if it’s on their body,” she said, smiling. “But we need fat in our diet.”

“And you’ll tell me the kind I can eat?” he asked.

“Olive oil and avocados are good fats.”

“I can handle both of them,” he said.

“Good. Eggs are good but not daily. High fiber is the way to go. Whole grain toast or oatmeal.”

He cringed. “What? Oatmeal is for old people.”

“I eat overnight oats daily. I’m younger than you.”

“They are boring and taste bland,” he complained. The look on his face made her want to laugh, but she didn’t.

“Not if you know how to flavor them. I use oat milk or yogurt. I add fruit or granola to them. Sometimes peanut butter or maple syrup. You can mix it up and give it flavor at the same time.”

“That doesn’t sound too horrible.”

“It’s not. I’ll print out some recipes. They are easy to make the night before, then you pull them out of the fridge and eat it. Faster than making eggs or toast. Good for people on a time crunch.”

“Or who are lazy,” he said. “You can say that.”

She winked at him and was shocked she did. “We’ll stick with the time crunch.”

They talked for another thirty minutes about the different foods he should substitute. That he didn’t have to cut everything out but moderation was the key. Small changes now would yield long-term results. Too many people stopped after a few days because it was too hard to make drastic changes.

“This was a lot of information,” he said.

“I’m sure. That is why you can take it home and read it over. My card is there if you have any questions or need to come in for another appointment. Both are your choice.”

“Just one appointment?” he asked.

“Most people only need one. Or they don’t want to come back. I’m happy you showed up. I’ve lost track of how many people cancel at the last minute.”

A slight pink hue filled his face. His brown hair was short but slightly messy, he had a five o’clock shadow going that she found extremely sexy and his dark eyes were almost dancing with humor.

“I was considering it,” he said.

“I’m glad you didn’t,” she said, standing up and handing him all the papers. “And please, call me if you have any questions.”

She shook his hand when he was getting ready to leave and felt the heat in her palm travel up her arm and settle in her stomach. “Will do.”

She had to fight the urge to look at his butt when he walked out because she knew her face was almost as red as his after the handshake.

Oh, screw it. She looked anyway. It wasn’t often she had a treat like that in her office and one that was even flirting with her.

Rick gotout to his SUV and tossed the papers that Gillian had handed him on the passenger seat.

Yeah, he was going to cancel this appointment but forgot to do it last week, and when he got the reminder this morning, the last thing he wanted to do was not show up. That wouldn’t be right, so he left to come and hear what they had to say.

He was glad he did after spending almost an hour with the dietician.

She sure was sweet on the eyes.

Brown hair that was slightly past her shoulders with a little wave in it. Her eyes were as dark as her hair. She was trying to be professional, but he knew he was getting to her.
