I’ve set viewing appointments for three different places. Two are loft apartments, and the other is a studio. I considered looking at penthouses, but Alana would never accept them. I want her to be comfortable. I will take my time to find the right place for her, even if it means viewing fifty different places in the space of a couple of days while she is in her classes.

Martin and I arrive at the last building on my list. The first two were not what I pictured or wanted for Alana. The studio apartment was too small, and the first loft apartment seemed a little too old fashioned. If this one is of no use, Martin promised he could set more viewings up today in a couple of hours for me.

“Did you say you wanted to rent or buy?” he asks as we climb out of the car.

“I want to rent for the moment, a six-month lease if possible.” I could buy it, but one step at a time. At least with a six month lease it will give Alana time to get back on her feet. Alana won’t be amused I am renting a place for her, never mind buying it.

Martin smiles. “Okay. If you change your mind, let me know. I can arrange it.”

He leads us into a newer building, it's probably been here maybe ten years, you can tell by its modern look. Every apartment appears to have its own spacious balcony attached. It is already better than the others. Alana will love it, somewhere to sit to have her coffee, study or read. I smile at the thought.

He takes the keys out to unlock the door to let us inside. “This place is more expensive for a few reasons. First: because of the size, second: because of the view, and third: the balcony. For this place, you are talking about four thousand dollars a month.”

“You know the price isn’t an issue,” I reply.

He nods, opening the door he lets me step in first. I take an instant liking to the place. I love how it is all open planned, the kitchen and living room flow seamlessly in one space. There are wooden stairs leading up to another floor where the bedroom seems to be.

“The bedroom and bathroom are up on the same level,” he says.

The entire place is painted white, the floor wooden. It is beautiful, and the view will be incredible with the large windowpanes.

“Can the place be redecorated?” I question. I am sure Alana would prefer somewhere with a little more colour, but I can sort it out.

“Yes. As long as it isn’t too dark, like black.” He laughs. “The furniture and white goods don’t come with the place. The previous tenants have movers coming to collect the items today.”

“Okay, that’s fine. I would rather put a little more colour into the place anyway. Can we access the balcony?” I am curious about the exact size and view from it.

He smiles. “You sure can.”

The area for the balcony is far larger than I thought it would be. I stand at the railing, taking everything in. The view of the city is stunning from up here. We only stay outside for a few minutes before strolling back in.

I take another walk around the place, going upstairs I check out the bedroom and bathroom. I can picture Alana and I spending time here together, and can see her make it feel like a home. I would also love to take her right against one of those glass windows, but it isn’t the time or place for inappropriate thoughts.

“I will take it,” I announce. This apartment feels right for Alana. I just hope she loves it.

“Great! When do you want the lease to start from?”

“Right away, please. When do you think I can get in it to have the place set up?” The sooner I can get started, the better.

“I will see if I can get you access by Monday. I may need to pull a few strings, but it is possible.” He smiles.

“Fantastic!” I celebrate.

Martin nods to the front door. “We should leave. The movers will be here soon.”

I am happy with what I see, so leaving isn’t a problem. The hardest part is yet to come, which is telling Alana I have rented an apartment for her. It should be interesting. She will probably be mad at first, but hopefully it will overcome her displeasure.

I’m standing outsideof campus waiting for Ezra to pick me up. I got out of my last class a little earlier than expected. I texted him to let him know, and he told me he would head over. It has been a good day. I enjoyed all my classes. Though, I have a lot of work to do for next week. I can handle it though, and I am sure Ezra can help me with it since he is a businessman, and a damn good one.

I still haven’t made my decision about going to work with him. I will need to give him an answer soon. Ezra has only brought it up once since he asked. I appreciate him not putting any pressure on me. It would be a fantastic opportunity for me, but I can’t stop worrying in case someone picks up on something between us or Bella shows up. I should make a pro/con list, they usually help.

“Hey,” someone says.

I turn around and see Lucas standing there, smiling at me. He is in some of my classes.

I smile at him. “Hey, Lucas. Are you heading home?”
