“He can hack her and get all the information without you having to interact with anyone. No offense but your family is kinda shit.”

I smirked. “I’m aware. Um… I think I might have an email somewhere that my mom sent me about the details. It might have the address in there. If not, I can probably just call her.”

He shook his head. “You’re busy. Forward me the email and if it’s not there, I’ll ask Yuri to look into it. It’s his job and he can’t be left without distractions for too long without getting into trouble.”

Since there wasn’t a ton for Jaime to do when I was working, he decided to set to work on preparing for the wedding. The most I had to do was forward that email. He got the specs on both the church and the hotel where the reception was being held. He had Yuri hack both my sister and my mom, getting a copy of the guest list and any other information they felt was important. I thought I’d have to put my work on the backburner to do all this myself. I’ve been working alone for so long that I didn’t know how I felt about someone helping me.

While Jaime was busy planning security, I threw myself into work. I wanted to get ahead as much as I could in case something went wrong. While Jaime left to grab us lunch, I even wrote a detailed description of the work I’ve done so far and what needed to be done in case someone had to take over for me. I’ve always been the person to plan for the worst case scenario and no matter how often Jaime reassured me, I still couldn’t see this stupid wedding ending well.

The daybefore we were set to leave, I finally worked up the nerve to tell Liam where I was going. I told him when I started that there might be times where I’d have to run into my father but I don’t think either of us expected me to outright seek him out. I knocked hesitantly on the door, shoring up my courage as I pushed the door open.

He wasn’t alone. He was standing by the window, his arms around Jo. I’ve been avoiding her. I felt guilty for getting her into trouble with Liam and I heard rumors that the paces she put Liam through for implying that she’d cheat on him were epic.

“Patrick.”

“Oh come on. An Irish baby named Patrick? Stereotype much?”

A smirk pulled at his lips. “Donovan.”

“Douchebag name. Try again.”

“Shamus.”

She pursed her lips. “I don’t hate that one.”

He made an irritated noise. “I do. I was kidding.”

Snickering, she leaned into him. I hated interrupting them. They were so happy, talking about baby names like they weren’t one of the most dangerous crime families in the city. It would almost be comical if they weren’t so sincere about it.

Clearing my throat, I did my best not to grimace when they both glanced my way. Liam’s face was blank, giving away nothing, but Jo smiled at me.

“Bex!”

A scowl crossed my face before I could stop it and Jo flashed me a mischievous grin. The only person I allow to call me that is Jaime and that’s because he’s earned it. Mostly with his face between my legs every night. It’s hard to say no to someone who makes you scream like that.

“Mr. O’Connor.Mrs. O’Connor.”

She made a face and I smirked. Two can play at that game and I’m not the type to pull my punches.

Turning my focus back to Liam, I sighed. “I don't normally inform my bosses about my personal plans but I felt it was important to let you know I’d be seeing my father this weekend.”

“For your sister’s wedding. I’m aware.”

I frowned and he gestured to his desk. We all sat, Jo perched on the arm of his chair with Liam’s arm around her waist.

“Jaime told me. He’s been borrowing Yuri for research. You’re expecting trouble?”

I thought about lying but what was the point if Jaime’s been blabbing. “I hope not but threats have been made. I wouldn’t put it against my father to use the wedding as an excuse to try and force me home. Jaime has been helping me prepare just in case.”

He nodded. “That’s fine. Do you want more security?”

“God no. That kind of drama would be a disaster. I’m fine with Jaime. He’s my plus one and I trust him to protect me.”

Jo smiled softly. “He’s a good one. He’s been my bodyguard since I met Liam. You’ve got nothing to worry about if you’re with him.”

A muscle ticked in Liam’s jaw and I knew it bothered him to hear about Jo and Jaime so I decided to move past the subject quickly.
