“Just give me a moment to get my breath back, and then I can.”

Ellie giggled and tightened her legs around him again. “I don’t think that will take long.”

Derrick groaned. “You’re incorrigible, do you know that?”

“What can I say? First time I get something for myself, and I want to make the most of it.”

Derrick couldn’t argue with that.

Ellie awoke first, aware of arms around her. She was lying on something warm. It took her a moment for the sleep to completely fade away, and she realised that she was lying on Derrick, her head against his chest with his arm around her. He was on his back, snoring softly.

Derrick. Much as she liked calling him North, there was something sweet about calling him Derrick. More intimate.

She felt honoured.

She lay in his arms, thinking back to the night before. Derrick had certainly shown her that lovemaking wasn’t as uncomfortable as her first time. He still made her feel like she was coming apart, and he worshipped her body like she was a goddess. Ellie had no idea it was like that.

Being married may not be that bad, after all. Especially when she liked Derrick both as a person and physically. That certainly made things easier for her.

It was going to be a little strange having something for herself after so many years spent focusing on everyone else and putting herself last. Ellie wasn’t about to let it go.

Would this last until their attraction fizzled out? Ellie hoped not; she didn’t want to get discarded. From the way Derrick touched her and made love to her, that didn’t appear to be something that would happen for a while, but that could mean anything.

She needed to stop that. It was just their first night as a married couple, and already Ellie was overthinking. She didn’t want to ruin it for herself by worrying about it so much.

“I can hear you thinking.”

Ellie looked up. Derrick’s eyes were open, and he was smiling at her. Ellie shifted up onto her elbow.

“I thought you were still asleep.”

“I sensed you waking up.” Derrick shifted around so he lay on his side, facing her. “Morning.”

“Morning.” Ellie allowed him to pull her close. “What time are we expecting my sisters to arrive?”

“Around lunchtime, if they are heading off after breakfast.” Derrick kissed her nose. “Breakfast for us will be from eight-thirty, so if you’re feeling hungry, I suggest we start getting ready.”

“I’m a little hungry,” Ellie admitted. “But I don’t know if I want to get up right now.”

Derrick smiled, and Ellie’s pulse fluttered as he kissed her.

“Much as staying in bed all day would be desirable, we do need to get up and start getting prepared. I doubt your sisters will be impressed that you’re… too busy to welcome them into their new home.”

Ellie giggled. “Probably not a good idea. Although I’m sure Regina would say that I need to do something for myself for once instead of thinking of others.”

“I couldn’t agree more with that.” Derrick’s hand was lazily rubbing her bare back. “After all, you started focusing more on me than on yourself while we were making love. I had to get you to slow down.”

Ellie was aware of that. Derrick had needed to remind her that he was pleasuring her and not the other way around. She bit her lip.

“It’s a habit. I just want you to feel good. It is my first time lying with a man, after all.”

“And that is why I should be looking after you.” Derrick kissed her. “It’s your turn to be selfish with what you want. I won’t get upset about that.”

His kiss deepened, and Ellie squealed as Derrick rolled her onto her back. Then he broke the kiss and pulled away.

“We’d better get dressed, otherwise we’re never going to leave the bed.”
