“Oh, you filthy…” Lex says, pulling his lip ring between his teeth.

“Guys?” Emery suddenly says. “Um, the pizza is here, and I know you are doing like a…mating ritual or something, but can we eat? I’m hungry and August said it would be rude to start without you.”

Lex tugs the can of soda from my hand.

“Mating ritual…we’ll see about that when we get home. I’ll mate you all fucking night long.”

Yes, do that, please.

Let’s fuck like animals.

“Thank god we’re almost home,” Lex says, his hands tapping an uneven rhythm on the steering wheel.

We made it through dinner intact, Lex behaving himself, mostly, and me just listening intently. Just in off chance Emery had something he wanted to divulge.

And he did. Kind of.

Lex and he grew up in foster care—which I knew. What I didn’t know is that they were roommates for years until Emery moved in with August. Growing up, Lex got into tech and surveillance after a creepy foster dad was lurking around outside his room at night.

I wanted him to go into more detail about this because it was a glimpse inside that head of his, but he’d cut Emery off abruptly. I mean, I don’t need to know the gory details, I really don’t, but I do want to know about his past and what his life has been like. It helps to give me insight into who he is today.

“Oh, go ahead,” Lex mutters. “Go ahead and ask. I can see you’re dying to do it.”

I roll my lips between my teeth and say, “Is that really why you got into the tech field?”

“Yes, mostly. I wanted evidence of the shit those creepy fucks were doing. Saved up my money, bought some cameras and it evolved from there. I’ve always been good with computers. It just…it just fits me, and I do it well.”

I nod because itisfitting.

“I don’t want to go into more detail about it. They’re not needed, but bad things happened and I fixed it. That’s all you need to know.”

“Okay,” I say, running my hands along my thighs. “I get it.”

He’s silent for a moment and then asks, “And how did you get into accounting?”

I turn my gaze toward Lex as he pulls into his apartment complex. “Numbers always made sense to me.”

“Yes, I can see that. People are complicated. You, on the other hand, are complicated in the best way.”

He’s mistaken. I’m not complicated at all. I’m just a simple guy who happens to be obsessed with Lex.

He shuts off the car and then looks at me, one of his hands reaching out to trace the outline of my lips.

“Let’s go upstairs. I want to kiss you again.”

“God yes,” I say, nearly stumbling out of the car. He pulls me through the garage and up the stairs. When we burst through the door, he’s on me. We don’t even make it to the bed. We tumble onto the couch, our bodies threaded around each other, writhing. Fuck, he feels good on top of me. I want him inside of me.

He rips my shirt right off my head and then kisses his way down my chest and I arch up into him, my hands in his hair, pulling gently.

His groan echoes around the room as he rips his lips from mine and sits up, working our pants open.

“I want to fuck you,” he breathes, and I just nod my acceptance. I’d let him do anything to me.

He stands up and shucks our pants off until we’re both naked and I feel like my skin is on fire just from the sight of him, from knowing what’s about to happen.

“But we need to work you open first. Stretch out that hole for me.” I swallow roughly as he holds out his hand. “Come here, love.”
