Page 57 of Kissed By Her

Honor glared at me. I gave her a big smile. “Want a brownie sundae?”

“Is it slutty?” she asked, following me into the kitchen.

“It can be slutty if we want it to be,” I said. “I’ve got a ton of toppings. Don’t tell Mark that I might have stolen some of them from his house.”

Honor pretended to zip her lips.

“You’re spoiling me with all these desserts,” she said.

“Life is short, eat more desserts,” I said.

“You should put that on a bumper sticker,” Honor said as I set a middle brownie in her bowl for her.

“Maybe I should.”

I pulled the ice cream out of the freezer and let her pick her flavor. She chose French vanilla, which didn’t really surprise me. I went for the cookie dough and then loaded my bowl with sprinkles, crushed Oreos, whipped cream, nuts, and multiple cherries.

Honor stuck with the brownie, ice cream, whipped cream, and one cherry placed carefully on top.

Her bowl looked like art. Mine looked like a mess.

Honor and I took our bowls to the couch again.

“Did you want to watch something?” I asked.

“Sure. I’m not picky.”

I stared at her. “Yeah, you are.”

Honor rolled her eyes. “I’m trying to be polite.”

“Stop it, it’s freaking me out,” I said and that made her laugh.

“Okay, but you can’t make fun of me,” she said.

“I can’t promise that I won’t mock your viewing choices until I know what you want to watch,” I said. I would pretty much watch anything, but I was dying to know what she would be embarrassed about.

“So it’s a show from the ’90s that I never really watched about this woman who becomes a nanny for a rich guy and his three kids.”

She didn’t even need to say anything else. I pulled it up on my TV and had to scroll back to the first episode.

“Anyplace you want to start? I’ve seen it way too many times. I could probably just quote the episodes for you. Do a dramatic reenactment with voices.”

Honor snorted. “It makes sense that you’d like that show.”

“I mean, I’m not trying to marry my boss and I wish I had her closet, but yeah,” I said.

Honor gestured for the remote to select an episode and I gave it to her. I hurried to eat my sundae before it completely melted as Honor found the episode she wanted.

“I didn’t think you were a sitcom kind of person,” I said.

“I don’t like a lot of them, but I really like this one. I don’t know. I marathoned it back when I went through my big breakup and couldn’t get off the couch.”

I tried picturing that and couldn’t.

“My brother and I would watch it when we were sick home from school. I didn’t start rewatching until a few years ago,” I said.

Honor settled into the couch and I watched as she slipped her shoes off and then tucked her feet up under her.
