At least he bought into my game. He was really under the impression that I wanted sex from him.

Sure, I couldn’t deny that the memories of the night at the pool still shook my mind, but never strong enough to ever get me to throw myself at a man.

‘Maybe I shouldn’t have come wearing clothes; that could have saved us the trouble.’ I giggled, closing my eyes at the same time to enjoy the way his mouth danced on my melting skin.

‘In five, I have a two-hour meeting with some board members of the city council. I can’t fucking postpone it.’ Good news from my point of view, not that I would ever let him in on that.

‘You have a meeting in the club?’ Pretty strange location to bring the city council members, but we were speaking about Brax after all.

‘VIP table and a few lap dances to seal the deal.’

Great, strippers again; I suddenly remembered how he usually spent his time.

‘Are you performing the lap dances?’ I decided to play funny.

‘I almost forgot about this mouth of yours.’

I noticed his lips moving to speak again, but he quickly changed his mind. He was trying to hold back all remarks that could have upset me, just to continue from where we had left off.

He was savoring me like the finest whiskey.

Luckily for me, he didn’t have a taste of the liquor too soon.

A knock on the door interrupted him faster than he anticipated. ‘Come in!’ Brax only spoke after he made sure my dress was back together.

One of the guards that I usually saw around entered through the door. ‘Your guests have arrived. I’ve set them up at the VIP table, but Mr. Harris sounded irritated that you weren’t there to greet them.’

‘Motherfucker,’ Brax snarled, knowing that he couldn’t steal any more minutes before he needed to go. ‘Let them know I’ll be there in a moment. And take a bottle of Macallan to the table along with some Dom Perignon.’

‘Right away, boss.’ The man exited as fast as he arrived.

‘This is going to take a while.’ Brax was trying to find time to squeeze me into his life while his evening entertaining the Elite couldn’t agree with me more.

‘I can wait. I’ll be patient, I promise,’ I whispered on his lips, knowing that, in fact, he would be the impatient one.

‘Fuck, I have an out-of-town meeting tomorrow.’ He really seemed anxious to gethim and me together between the sheetswork somehow. ‘You could come with me.’

‘Our last out-of-town meeting didn’t end that well, so I’ll pass.’

‘I’m not going to be killing anyone.’

‘I have classes. I’ve been missing out on too much anyway.’ The wait only pumped out the thrill. ‘How about Thursday?’

‘I’ll cancel my agenda after 8 pm.’ He sounded so eager to have me as his again.

‘Perfect.’ I batted my eyelashes, heading to the door, not before I slipped in a little detail, just to pray on his suffering a little. ‘Brax, I was thinking we could go to the glass room.’

Chapter 8

Iwas back in my room, staring at the ceiling. I had no idea what I was doing anymore. Still, my plans seemed to be functioning. The plans of ruling over the city were going on the right track, Brax was getting caught up in my game, and Cole... let’s just say that Cole showed all signs of becoming my strongest defender.

And then there was Ferris. My irresistible king of darkness— so unpredictable that one wrong step taken alongside him could be the final one. Good and evil, spiraling to create exquisite madness, always making me use last resorts of energy to try and stay away from his magnetizing aura.

Though this time, I couldn’t stay away.

This time, I needed to get back into the wolf’s den for the last part of the plan involving him.

It was lose or win, or more likely, live or die.
