‘Yeah...’

‘I need to tell you something first. That is to clarify the reason we areallhere for. This is not a cock fight. This is about what’s going on out there. In the streets....’

It seemed there was much more to Bea than just a pretty face. Not only was she interested in making a difference, but she also seemed to have a plan to make things work.

Except she was making me a part of thisnew plan.

‘I will needall three of youto do this,’ she spoke in the most serious tone she owned.

‘Allthreeof us?’ What the fuck was that supposed to mean!?

‘Yes... All three of you. Due to The Pleasure Room, I had two other deals beside you, but I guess you already know that.’

No, I didn’t know that. Because I. DIDN’T. FUCKING.CARE! ‘There’s a complete report of every second of your life since the day you met me by now. It’s sitting on my desk. I didn’t open it. Do you know why? Because I don’t care.’ She was only a piece of ass and I already had a taste of it.

That was enough so I could move on.

That should have been enough for me to move on!

Still, I had an unanswered question for myself. What the fuck was I doing in her living room again?

Looking for the answer to that question might have been much more complicated than I could ever imagine. It seemed not only Bea, but fate itself had something to do with it.

It took only a few steps and another door to find the one person in this world that I cherished more than life itself. ‘Ferris!?’ I all but stuttered seeing him there.

Ferris didn’t share my blood but was about as close as it got to family. One of the few true friends I had in this world, even if the last time we talked we didn’t see eye to eye. It all had to do with the mistakes of my father and I was the one left to fix them, even if that meant committing Ferris to a private institution to get the treatment he needed for his PTS.

It was the first time I saw him since then, but not the first time I tried. After the months spent at the clinic, he insulated himself from the rest of the world. I had easier access to the President than to him.

And I couldn’t really blame him. I was somehow to be held accountable for all kinds of shit he had to go through, even though I never let a day in my life pass without trying to make it up to him.

‘Ferris! I can’t believe it’s you!’ I walked across the room, trying to ignore the pain the wound in my torso was causing.

I never get the need to hug people. I’m definitely not the type that ever does that. Yet I did feel the urge to hug Ferris.

I had to admit that I felt a strange fear that he wouldn’t respond to my gesture. But suddenly, I felt an arm wrapping over my shoulder. The Ferris I used to know was still there.

His gesture didn’t mean he had forgiven me. Maybe far from it. Yet it did mean the door to our friendship wasn’t irremediably closed as I feared.

I didn’t get to recover from the surprise of seeing him before another familiar voice broke through the silence.

‘Mouse, don’t tell me you’re planning a surprise.’

I recognized that voice.

And the same voice seemed to have recognized us back. ‘Brax!? Ferris!?’

It was Cole. None other than the one who we left to take our place as kings of the EMA after we graduated.

What the fuck was going on?

What were the odds of the three of us meeting?

The series of questions roaming through our minds didn’t stop me from acknowledging Cole’s presence by giving him a pat on the shoulder.

Our team was reunited for the first time in two years, and to be honest, I had held no previous hope that it could still happen. Our roads seemed to have gone their separate ways, but somehow Bea got us back together. And from the look on her face, she had no idea what was really going on.

My focus returned to Ferris. I never found joy in anything, yet seeing him was making me feel that he had just risen from the dead.
