I needed a plan to get her to bemine.

Chapter 5

Icouldn’t stop thinking about Mouse over the days that followed. It was as if I was suffering from a dangerous addiction that just wasn’t going to get satisfied until I could fully have her. Maybe it was just an obsession born out of some need to always have my way. All I knew was that it was becoming difficult for me to conceive that I wouldn’t receive what I desired.

As for the current deal, everything seemed to be working out in my favor. My father would pull the strings needed so Bea gets the custody papers, and I would have her until the month expires. That should be enough time to get her in my bed, and I do meanmybed since my mother decided to invite her over.

In fact, I was searching for Mouse at the Academy to give her thegoodnews when I thought I could hear her and Ace’s voice coming out from the janitor’s closet, ‘I want the same treatment as Cole. I can see it from the way he looks at you. He wouldn’t give you a second of interest if he wasn’t fucking you. You can’t be too much of an expensive bitch since I know he no longer has money.’

What the fuck was going on?

I instantly opened the door, dragging Ace straight into the middle of the hallway. He wasn’t so cocky any longer as he fell under the wrath of my fists.

No one… and I meanno onefucks with my property.

All I could see was red, fury blinding me to the point where I couldn’t tell if anyone else was even around. One thing was clear, I was going to kill him for his defiance, and for thinking that he could ever take an action against me without dealing with the consequences.

I couldn’t hear and I couldn’t see, just aiming my anger at the target with one mission and one mission only — destroy. That was until I felt someone jumping on my back, in some useless attempt to get me off him. Bad idea on their part. It took only a twirl of my arm to throw away whoever was trying to stop me.

Except that person was Mouse.

One blow later and Ace found himself eating the floor. Not that it mattered anymore. I just needed to end the fight and get over to where I had thrown Bea to see what the fuck I had done. I may have claimed the role of the bully, but no way was I ever the one to hit a girl.

The instant I was by her side, I sneaked a hand under her chin to get her to look at me. It was nothing serious, although I could see small drops of fiery blood staining her bottom lip.

I needed to take a closer look, so drawing my thumb between her lips, I discovered a cut right next to the spot where I saw the red liquid. I was expecting her to scream, curse at me, get mad... anything that any other person would do in her place.

Instead, she waited for me breathlessly, peering straight into my eyes as I retrieved my thumb to taste the sweetness of her blood.

I was no fucking vampire. What just happened was a silent commitment. Something beyond us was tying us together. She had defended me the same way I had defended her just minutes before. Most likely she tried to stop me from killing Ace so that I wouldn’t get in trouble, and that kind of commitment could only get my respect — not that I was ever going to let her know.

‘Walk with me, Mouse,’ I helped her up then walked out to my car.

‘Where are we going?’

‘Mommy wants to meet you,’ I spoke as I was getting into my ride, gesturing her to join me.

‘Tonight!?’

‘Now.’ I couldn’t be too bothered with the home visit. I was much more interested in her visiting my bedroom than making friends with my mum.’Did you manage to get your family into town yet?’

‘No... Not yet.’

‘Then you don’t have any reason to say no to her. I told my father you are my girlfriend, so he won’t ask too many questions about helping you, and now I’ve got stuck with my mother on my back. I know her. She won’t back down before she meets you.’

‘In exactly how much trouble am I in?’

‘Never brought a girl home, so I’m also treading on new ground. My father does anything I ask without too many questions, but when it comes to her, she acts as the prosecution.’

‘What if she asks questions? I literally don’t know anything about you.’

‘Do you really think that at our age my mother would expect you to know anything except for what my dick looks like!?’ I could give her a reminder at any moment — if she had forgotten, even though, no one ever did.

‘What if she asks about me? About my not-so Elite origins...’

‘Chill down, Mouse. You can tell her you come from the Pit. It’s not like I’m going to marry you.’ We were Elite, but my mother knew better than to think Mouse was any more than a few weeks of fun. For that reason, it didn’t matter how blue was the blood running through her veins. ‘Now stand still and let me see what damage I have done,’ I was going to assess her injuries — this time, with my tongue.

For some fucked up reason, I needed to kiss her again, so unhurriedly that for a second I thought the time was standing still. ‘It’s better now.’ I was making fun of her, although there was a hidden truth in my words. It was better this time around, she was kissing me back, not by order, but by choice.
