I stopped right there in the hallway, catching her arm and turning her to face me with all devious thoughts running through my mind.

She knew what was coming next.

She feared what was coming next, and that made things even more exciting.

My eyes locked on her lips while I was giving her enough time to imprint the image deep inside her mind. I was going to publicly claim her as mine, not because of some romance story brewing between us, but because I knew perfectly well that it was the last thing she ever wanted.

A kiss that would throw her into a whole different world.

My lips found here in the most intimate gesture, giving her power to rule above all living souls at the Academy for each and fucking every immortal second in which I was making her officially mine. Little did I know that I wasinvoluntarily becoming hers, ‘Say hi to the fans, Queen B,’with those whispered words I had given her the power to rule above her new subjects. And to attract the jealousy of every female at the Academy.

‘This isn’t a present, and you know it!’ She was smart enough to see straight through what I was doing.

‘Do I? Maybe I was just letting my feelings for you get the better of me,’ I laughed, throwing the final blow —feelings.I would gladly choose to catch the plague rather than catch any kind of feelings.

The shock of mygiftmade her turn around and all but ran away as the image of her distancing, not as a stranger, but as my new queen was deeply enrooting itself within me.

Did I make a mistake?

Chapter 6

Two days later and I haven’t seen Mouse around anywhere, not even at school. Sure, she was pissed off with me for naming her Queen B, but that didn’t give her the right to deprive me of the time that she owed me.

I was just preparing to text her asking for an explanation when my phone lit up with a message from my favorite victim. She wanted me to visit her a little later that day. Maybe she came to her senses when it came to our newly established relationship. That wouldn’t surprise me. They all give in eventually.

What did surprise me was that the address she gave me was in the Hills.

I needed to find out what that was about, especially since my appetite for her felt stronger than ever. Something was happening to me. My phone usually received even more hook-up invites than Tinder. But none as attractive as hers. And definitely none as undeniable.

I was running a little late because of a meeting I’d had with my father. It wasn’t like it mattered anyway. If she wanted me, then she could fucking wait.

A strange wave of excitement engulfed me. A sensation I didn’t want to experience, but one that I couldn’t seem to detach myself from. Something good was going to happen that day, and that could only mean one thing, she would be mine the way I truly wanted her to be.

A guard approach me as soon as I arrived at the address.

I seriously needed to know how the fuck Mouse got all this money.

‘I’m here to see Mrs. White,’ I muttered, convinced that the 6-foot gorilla was going to give me trouble about it.

‘Name please,’ the guard calmly asked, like I was to give him the secret password.

‘Cole Clayborne.’

‘You may go straight in; Mrs. White is expecting you.’

That went a lot easier than I suspected. Maybe my good feelings would check out after all, ‘Mouse, don’t tell me you’re planning a surprise-’

I was counting the moments until I’ll get to have her wrapped around me, breaking some dining room table. That was before I stumbled into two people I never thought possible,‘Brax!? Ferris!?’

The two people I respected most in the world stood right in front of me — EMA’s previous kings. Them being in the same room didn’t strike me as weird, but being in the same room as Bea.... that was a subject I needed to get into.

However, it seemed Mouse didn’t know anything about us knowing each other. It was all a coincidence. ‘How... How do you know each other?’

‘Are you fucking kidding me!? Brax and Ferris were the kings of EMA. These guys are legends!’

The things we’ve done together made history at the Academy. Competitions, parties, women, and the list could go on for-fucking-ever.

Brax, the man who taught me everything there was to know about ruling was certifying my position. ‘Couldn’t have made a better choice.’
