‘I’m taking these to the bathroom with me.’ She snatched the pajamas and walked into the bathroom to change while I got myself undressed and got into bed. I wasn’t one to ever wear pajamas, so she should be grateful I kept my boxers on.
‘Come, Mouse,’ I was inviting her to join me between the sheets — this time only for sleeping.
And who was to say I couldn’t get myself a pretty decent sleep? Her body somehow molded against mine, as my lips sneaked on that curve of her neck that I loved so much, and one of my hands slipped between her silken thighs.
To be honest, I was expecting her to slap me, or at least put up a small fight. Yet she didn’t say a single thing.
That was as far as I was going to venture with any physical interaction, except for a goodnight kiss, which was meant to torture her throughout the night.
‘I needed this as much as you do, Mouse.’ I wasn’t afraid to admit it, especially since, from the way she was trying to keep herself from quivering against me, I felt she shared my thoughts.
I wish I could say I slept like a baby, but the whole night was a continuous struggle to repress my drives and not make a move on her. She wasn’t too helpful either, especially since she had been tossing and turning until the early hours of the morning. At least I knew she shared my torment, fighting to keep her fingers still while being glued to my tattoos — a very difficult task I may say.
‘How long have you been awake?’ I finally asked the question which had been burning on the tip of my tongue throughout the entire night… Not that she got any sleep.
‘I woke up a few minutes ago.’
‘When did I ever lie to you?’ I asked, knowing that she was definitely not telling the truth.
‘You never did,’ she murmured against my chest.
‘Then why do you feel the need to? You’re safe with me, at least when it comes to someone judging you. I perfectly understand that you can’t keep yourself from drooling on me.’
‘Cole…’ She was trying to find an excuse.
But I spared her the trouble. ‘Don’t make things hard on yourself. I could feel you throughout the night. You were having trouble sleeping, and so was I.’ We were beyond playing games, at least the ones where our hearts were involved. Because when it came to sexual attraction, I didn’t think we would ever be beyond that. ‘And you know why I kept waking up?’
‘No, why?’
‘Well, except for the blue balls that you gave me by fussing against me the whole night, I had another reason. One that will either make you run or make you kiss me.’ Last night’s sleep — or lack of it, helped me find a resolution. I was testing unfamiliar waters and it was either sink or swim.
‘Now you really have my curiosity.’
‘I want to take you out on a date. No deals or obligations. Just us — Bea and king Cole.’
‘You forgot to add themodestking Cole.’
‘I have zero reasons to be modest about, and you know enough of them not to differ.’ I let my hands fall from the small of her back to that perky ass I loved so much. ‘So what do you say? Are you going to break my heart or let me surprise you?’
‘I can’t really imagine you out on a date.’
‘I can’t imagine myself either, but there’s a first time for everything.’
‘What do you mean a first?’
‘A firstas in I never fucking needed a date. Things just happened without the effort.’ Girls usually came to me. I was never the one who chased them.
‘Oh, so you’re putting in the effort so you can get me into bed with you? When I’m already in bed with you.’ She was trying to get an even more detailed confession out of me, but it wasn’t going to work that way.
‘That’s not what I was trying to say, and you know it. I want to try this with you. And if things end up in bed, well, that would be like a bonus.’
‘Arrogant jerk.’
‘Call me whatever. You know you can’t resist me.’ And the feeling was mutual.
‘If you want to do this... see where things go, then what about Ferris and Brax?’
‘What about them?’ I never considered how a fling with Bea could affect either Ferris or Brax, mostly because it wasn’t unknown territory by then... okay, unknown territory when it came to the dating part, but not thesharing.
