I just shrugged again. She huffed in frustration. Blaze swatted her ass. “Drop it, sweetheart,” he ordered.

She cast him a dark look that told him she wasn’t happy with his order, but she let it go, instead leaning forward to press her lips to his. “You can’t spank me anymore.” John gagged, making us laugh. “Tinsley said pain is a bad coping mechanism for me.”

He swatted her ass again, arching a brow at her. She squeaked and jumped a little. No doubt, he smacked her hard enough to make it sting. “Try me, Montana.”

She winked at him. I barked out a laugh and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Stop being bad, Montana.”

“That’s her fucking middle name,” John muttered.

I heard a knock on the apartment door, but then it swung open, revealing Montana and Jonah. I smirked. She rolled her eyes. “I told him knocking was unnecessary,” she explained, walking over to me.

I wrapped a hand around the side of her neck and took her lips in a slow, hot kiss. She’d spent the day at John’s, but she’d been teasing both me and Jonah, hence my idea of them coming over here tonight. We’d planned to do it a few days ago, but after what happened in the bathroom, we wanted to give Montana some time to heal.

But now that she was feeling better and the stitches in her face were already dissolving, we’d show her we were capable of doing everything she was teasing us with.

Together.

This woman had no idea what the fuck she’d just done.

I released her—not that I wanted to—and walked over to the kitchen where I had been cooking. “Montana can show you where the bathroom is,” I told Jonah, taking note of the bag in his hand and his greasy clothes. “Figured you’d want a shower.”

He nodded. “Shower would be great, thanks.”

Montana led him to my bedroom, and a moment later, she came back into the kitchen. I nodded my head at the counter, indicating she should take a seat, and then I grabbed her a bottle of water. She sighed and twisted it open.

“How’s your face feel?” I asked her.

She shrugged. “Sore, but I’m dealing.” She looked at the food spread on the counter. “Need any help?”

I shook my head. “Just need you to sit there and look pretty for me, sweetheart.”

She snorted at that.

Montana seemed to be having good days. I wanted to keep it like that for as long as I could, but I knew she was still going to be prone to having lows. And as much as I hated to admit it, I knew she’d have a low sooner rather than later. But hopefully, the therapy appointments would continue to draw her further and further out of her shell.

Because she needed to heal. She couldn’t keep going on like this.

She stayed silent, and I didn’t bother saying anything as I cooked. It was nice just having her there like this. And by the time I finished dinner, Jonah was emerging from my room in just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, his feet bare.

“Smells fucking delicious,” he commented as he walked in. I watched as he moved between Montana’s legs and kissed her.

“Dinner’s done,” I told him. “Mind grabbing some plates? They’re over there in that cabinet,” I informed him, pointing at the correct one near the fridge.

He kissed Montana again, her cheeks a pretty red, before he walked over to get three plates. I looked at our girl. “Head to the table.”

She huffed and slid down off the counter. “Can’t we just eat in the living room like we always do?”

I arched a brow at her. “Can’t you just listen like I want you to?” I retorted.

She glared at me. I just continued staring at her. Finally, she huffed and marched off toward the kitchen table, leaving her bottle of water on the counter. “Water, Montana,” I called.

All I got in response was a middle finger over the shoulder.

She’d pay for that one later.

Jonah snorted. “She’s been like this since I picked her up from John’s,” he informed me.

I shook my head. “She’s gonna hit a low soon,” I quietly told him.

He nodded. “Trust me, it’s always there in the back of my mind, keeping me prepared.”

I just hoped we were both prepared because there was no telling if she was going to be easier to deal with or harder. Having lows was no joke, and I knew Montana had a long way to go before she learned how to healthily cope on her own.

I growled low in my throat when Montana wiggled her ass against me for the umpteenth time. I was spooning her on the couch, and Jonah was sitting on the floor in front of her, reading a book on his phone. I’d put on a movie for Montana, but for the past few minutes, she seemed more interested in teasing me than she did in watching the damn movie.
