Luke turns away from me and drags a hand through his hair. It kills me to see him upset like this.

“Go wait by the door.” His words catch me by surprise, and I can’t help the gasp that comes out. Is he going to let me go without a fight? But I don’t question it or let myself feel any disappointment. I move toward the door and wait with the bags I’d already brought down.

Luke keeps me waiting for ten minutes, but I can hear hushed voices at the back of the house, and I wonder what they’re saying.

Finally, he appears looking furious as he grabs my bags and walks out the front door. I hurry to keep up with him.

“Luke, please don’t be angry,” I beg.

“Get in the goddamn car, Zara.”

I go to the front passenger seat, and he stops me. “Not there. You can sit in the back like any other passenger.”

His words sting, but I can’t blame him for his anger. So, I move to the backseat and wait.

We’re twenty minutes into our drive, when I realize he’s not heading for the airport and panic sets in.

“Where are you taking me?” I ask, trying to keep my voice steady and not let him hear my fear.

But he doesn’t answer. His knuckles are white from gripping the steering wheel so hard and I wonder if I’ve been reading this man all wrong. Is he going to take me somewhere and kill me?

Then he turns onto a familiar street.

“Luke, seriously? You think bringing me here will make me want to stay?”

The silence is deafening, and I want to scream. He doesn’t even glance at me in the rear-view mirror.

He flips on his blinker and turns into the driveway for the strip mall that houses the sandwich shop and parks in front of the door.

I’m paralyzed as he gets out of the car and comes to the back door.

“You can walk in, or I can carry you,” he says evenly.

I have no fucking idea what to do here. If I walk in, I may never leave. But my gut says none of the four owners would ever kill someone in this place. Luke likes to play it cool like he’s only here because it’s what Matteo wanted, but this club is sacred ground to all of them. So, I step out of the car with shaky legs and follow him inside. He doesn’t stop at the registration desk since the club is closed tonight, and once we’re in the main play space, he makes a beeline for the hallway that leads to the private rooms.

What is he playing at here? We reach the end of the hall, and he punches in a code on the door for the Ace and it opens. Inside, I look around at the luxury digs.

“There’s a fridge stocked with healthy food and plenty of water. I’ll bring your bags in. You’ll be comfortable here until you come to your senses.”

I blink in shock as he steps back out of the room and closes the door. I hear the lock re engage, and I run to try to open it. The bastard locked me in a sex dungeon room.

I bang on the door. “Let me out you asshole.”

His voice comes over the speakers in the corner, making me jump.

“I warned you, Zara. You’re mine now, and I’m not going to let you run away because you’re scared. If you want me to come and stay with you or you’ve come to your senses and you want to come home with me, all you have to do is say so and the mic will pick it up and I’ll get the message. Otherwise, I’m going to stay away until your head is clear.”

I can’t help banging again. “You bastard. This is not the way to handle this.” I run for my purse and fish out my phone. “I’m going to call the police.”

Luke laughs. “You’ll find that a little hard I’m afraid, Flower. Now I’m going to open the door and give you your luggage in a few minutes. If you try to run, I’ll be forced to tie you to the bed, and I would much rather you be comfortable during your stay here.”

My phone has no service, not even for dialing emergency services. They must have some kind of signal jammer in here. My heart leaps into my throat, and panic claws at my chest. How do I get out of this mess?

The door clicks open, and I freeze when he steps into the room with my bags.

“That’s a good lass. If you need something other than what’s in the fridge to eat, say so and someone will take care of it for you. Now, it’s late and you should get some sleep. Would you like me to stay with you?”

Luke
