“You did this,” she said with a mock glare. “You’re the one who insisted on a huge engagement party.”

Memphis looked around the room. “It’s not that big. Trust me, Ace. It could have been bigger.”

Rylee’s eyes grew wide. “Jesus, Memphis. There must be two-hundred people here, and it’s barely seven.”

Memphis had convinced her that a large engagement party would give the press something else to talk about besides the recent scandal surrounding his company. They would know tomorrow if it worked. Rylee wasn’t convinced, but she’d given in because not only did it make Memphis happy, but it also made her mother ecstatic.

Kathleen Colton just grinned as Rylee looked at the childhood photos display that had been set up for both Memphis and Rylee.

“So not fair,” Rylee said as they approached the table. “You were even a ridiculously cute kid. I had an awkward phase that lasted into my twenties.”

Memphis slipped a hand into her shoulder-length hair and gave a slight tug. “I highly doubt that, Ace. You’re fucking hot.”

Rylee’s face warmed as she glanced at her mother. But the woman was busy talking to someone else, pointing out what a cute baby Rylee was.

“Stop,” she said, stepping away from him. “We have to be social at our own engagement party.”

Memphis gave her a look that said they didn’t. She looked around the room to keep from getting sucked in by his heated look. “I need a drink.”

Memphis hummed and put his hand on her bare shoulder, stroking circles, knowing it drove her mad.

“Let’s go to the bar then,” he said as he dragged his hand down her arm and laced his fingers with hers.

She was already feeling needy, and his words from earlier at the house rang in her ear. “Come on, Ace. It will be fun. I’ll drive you mad all night and when you think you’re so horny you’re going to burst, I’ll drag you into a dark corner somewhere and fuck you until you scream for me.”

She hadn’t expected him to drive her crazy with just a little touch, but lately her body had become so attuned to him that her pussy grew wet when he walked into the room. Of course, part of that was because he kept her naked as much as possible at home.

They approached the bar, and Memphis ordered them both expensive glasses of whiskey. As he was lifting both glasses off the bar top, a man approached and extended his hand to Rylee.

“The woman who managed to get Memphis to tie the knot,” he said with a wink. “I didn’t think that was ever going to happen.”

Memphis handed Rylee her glass when the stranger released her hand and pulled the man into a one-armed hug. When he stepped back, Memphis said, “Rylee, this is my brother Myles Foster.”

Rylee grinned. “It’s nice to meet you. I’ve got a friend I need to introduce you to later.”

Myles gave her a wicked grin of his own and said, “Well, if she’s half as pretty as you I look forward to the introduction.”

He turned to Memphis with a wolfish grin. “Come have a drink with me later if you can ever pull yourself away from your fiancée. We’ll talk about your bachelor party.”

Before Memphis could say anything, Myles turned and waved another guest down.

“Any more surprise siblings who want to buy you lap dances?” she asked when they were alone again. Memphis shook his head.

“Just the one. And don’t worry, Ace. You’re the only one who will be giving me a lap dance anytime soon.”

For the next half hour, the happy couple sipped whiskey and made small talk with guests as people approached them and congratulated them on their engagement. Memphis kept a hand on her almost constantly, whether he was tracing a line on her neck with his finger or squeezing her hand. Occasionally, he would pull her in for a kiss, making sure the cameras captured their passion.

Eventually, the couple made their way to one of the poker tables that had been set up in one corner of the room. Memphis thought having some poker stations was appropriate, given how they’d met. She’d never thought of him as the mushy type, but she thought the move was sweet.

They took their seats at a table after getting their chips and the dealer started the hand.

“What do you say to a little side wager on this hand, Ace?” he murmured in her ear as the cards landed in front of each player.

Rylee lifted an eyebrow. “What did you have in mind?”

He grinned. “You win, you decide your prize. I win, we head down to the nearest chapel and tie the knot right now.”

Rylee’s mouth fell open as she peeked at her cards. “Memphis, you agreed we should have a lengthy engagement.”
