I grimaced as a wave of feeling rolled through me, my core rippling as a pang of arousal made me feel emptier than ever. I reached out for Liam, who was laying minutely closer to me than the others, shaking my head in answer.

“Not over,” I moaned, my laughter forgotten. “More please.”

With an arrogant grin, Liam lifted me up and over his waiting cock. “If you insist, Princess. We’re all yours.”

Chapter Thirty-Five

Cordelia

Five years after that

Iclenchedmyjawas the carriage hit a bump and I was jostled around in my seat. My hand smoothed over the roundness of my belly as the baby kicked again, the force of it making me wince as rough fingers smoothed a lock of hair back from my face.

“You good, sweetheart?”

I smiled across at Noah as he leaned across the carriage towards me. “Baby hates the bumps.”

“Or loves them,” he replied with a smirk, giving my swollen stomach an affectionate rub. “Adrenaline junkie?”

I breathed a laugh as a kick landed on his hand, making him grin proudly.

A small hand reached for my arm a moment later, distracting me as I turned to smile at my daughter.

“Mama, we’re nearly there!”

I stroked my fingers through her soft, blonde curls, eyes that were identical to mine blinking up at me expectantly from where she sat at my side.

“Oh really? How do you know?” I asked indulgently.

She shrugged. “The trees smell different here.”

Liam shot me a grin from her other side as Selena once again proved that she had shifter senses. We would have to wait to see if she would ever actually shift, but she definitely showed the signs that she had shifter blood.

It was only a few minutes later that the carriage drew to a halt, Liam keeping a tight hold of Selena as we juddered to a standstill on the rough road. We had been in the capital for only a week, taking Selena up for her first visit to the castle while we dealt with some council business, and she had loved every second of the adventure.

The door opened to show a smiling face, a hand reaching in to offer me help. I didn’t bother taking it though, grinning to myself as Noah predictably pushed out first and turned to help me himself, lifting me out completely as I rolled my eyes at him.

“Again, my feet work, babe,” I groused playfully, having long ago given up fighting them on this stuff. If I thought they were protective usually, when I was pregnant it reached a whole other level.

He winked unrepentantly at me as Zeke climbed down behind us, holding out his hands as Liam passed Selena down to him. I heard her chattering away in his ear as she wrapped her arms around his neck, his patient answers making my chest ache as he walked her around to where our bags had been stowed.

“Are you certain you’re ok to walk from here, Miss Cordelia?”

I sighed internally as I turned to face Benson, plastering a smile on my face as I forced myself to remember that he was trying to help. Since our first meeting at the portal gate, and subsequent reunion when he had been recruited into the new castle guard, Benson had made it his mission to take care of me whenever we arrived for council business.

“Seriously, Ben, I will be fine,” I reassured him, though I failed to fully hide my exasperation. “I’m pregnant, not sick.”

He ran a hand sheepishly over his shaved head. “I know, I’m sorry. I wish you well, Milady.”

I suppressed another eye roll at the fact no one seemed to be able to just use my name, reaching out to give his forearm a quick squeeze. “Thanks, Ben, take care, ok?”

He nodded, giving another nod of respect to each of my guys as he climbed back into the carriage and turned back towards the capital.

“He had better not be right. It’s a long walk, Princess.”

Liam’s arms came around me from behind, hands cradling my bump gently, his actions a complete contrast to his high-handed words. I dropped my head back on his shoulder with a sigh of relief as he gently lifted my sizeable bump, taking the weight for a few moments as he kissed my neck.

“I’ll be fine,” I murmured. “Walking is good for me right now, and the baby is safe and snug in here for a few weeks yet.”
