I clean myself up, making use of the face cloths in the bathroom. When I’m finished, my face is bare of any make-up, and I look more like myself, even with the angry bruise forming on my face. My knees ache when I walk, a reminder of being pressed against the tile while he forced himself to the back of my throat.

Even now, thinking about it, my underwear dampens and my breath hitches.

“Dude,” Betty says when she finds me wandering towards the lift. “I’ve been looking for you, where the hell have you been?”

“I’ve been in the bathroom.”

“For over an hour?”

“What? No,” I tell her, confused, it couldn’t have been more than twenty minutes I was in there. I grab my phone, checking the time and blanch when I see she’s right. It’s been far longer than an hour. “Shit, sorry.”

“No bother, I was just getting worried when you missed the entertainment,” she tells me, shaking her head and linking her arm through mine. “Your mum looks pissed, by the way.”

Groaning, I run my fingers through the ends of my hair, trying to untangle it slightly from where Theodore fisted it. “Fuck. That’s going to be fun going home tonight, then.”

“Na, fuck that. Come stay at mine, you know Mum would love to have you.”

“Yeah, but my car.” I hesitate, not that I don’t want to take her up on the offer, but I’m not sure if delaying the inevitable collision with my mother is a good idea. “And I have nothing to wear. I can’t exactly squeeze into your clothes.”

She wrinkles her nose in thought before sighing. “Fine.”

“Hey,” I tell her, pulling her to the lift. “At least it’s just one night. We’ll be on the road first thing in the morning. I promise.”

NINETEEN

Fallondoesn’tlookatme when she comes into English, or when she sits at an empty table near the front. She looks better today, calmer, than she did Saturday.

Her hair falls down her back in messy waves, and she’s dressed in jeans and a cropped jumper; I want to peel the items off and run my hands over every single inch of her creamy skin.

I shove my chair back, moving over to her. I don’t bother saying anything, just grab her bag and carry it to my table at the back of the room. Her back stiffens, and I see the way her shoulders lift as she pulls in a deep breath, but she doesn’t make any moves to come to me.

She’s trying to remain unfazed. Unbothered about how things were left between us, but she’s a shitty actress.

“I see you’ve finally thrown the trash out,” Anna says gleefully, sitting next to me. A smirk lifts at my lips when Fallon finally stalks up to us. Her eyes turn down when she sees Anna, she turns to me, raising a brow, but I lift my shoulder up in a lazy shrug, giving no explanations.

I’m far too intrigued to see what she’ll do on her own without me getting involved.

Sure, I could tell Anna to fuck off like I did the other week, but where would the fun be in that?

“Can we help you?” Anna says, her tone pleasant but there’s a bitterness hiding beneath her words. Fallon tilts her head, her stare curious as she looks between Anna and me. I’m not sure what she thinks she’s looking at, but the moment she straightens her back, those hazel eyes of hers lock on mine.

“Are you going to tell your little girlfriend about Saturday, or should I?”

“Tell me what?” Anna blurts, her eyes flickering between us. I don’t bother denying Fallon’s words. She knows as well as I do that Anna isn’t my girlfriend. “Tell me what? What is she talking about, Theo?”

Ignoring her, Fallon speaks only to me. “Do you know she warned me off you? My first day here, called me a whore and everything. Isn’t that interesting?”

“It is,” I hum, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning back in my chair. My mouth quirks into a lazy grin. “And what happened when she did, Casper?”

“She got her nose broken.” Fallon smiles sweetly, placing both hands on the table and leaning in towards me. “Unfortunately, I can’t take credit for that one, though.”

“Very interesting. I wonder what she’ll call you when she learns you choked on my dick on a bathroom floor?”

Anna gasps, but we still don’t look at her.

This is between Fallon and me.

“Hmm.” She ponders, resting a hand under her chin. “What about when she learns you snuck into my bedroom and tied me to the bed while I slept?”
