I fell down onto all fours. The world looked sharper around me, more colorful. And when I looked up, I was blinded by how Ares somehow appeared even more gorgeous than usual. It would be nice to have this kind of eye sight all the time.

"You're beautiful, little dove," he murmured, petting me softly.

I tottered around on all fours, the sensation of being in my wolf so freeing, like I had endless energy and nothing could touch me. I went to speak to Ares, but a yelp came out, and with my excitement, I found myself breaking into a howl, my head tilted back. The song sliding past my lips was beautiful and full of longing.

My heart was beating so quickly.

I’d just transformed into my wolf and I wanted to scream it for the world to hear me.

Aldo stared at me as well, and he didn’t seem like he was about to eat me–he actually looked excited, wagging his tail. Just when I’d thought that, he barked, and my wolf gave a warning growl that didn't seem to faze him at all.

"Stunning. Should we go for a run now?" Ares asked. "Do you think either of you can catch me?”

He suddenly took off like the wind–vampire speed was incredible–but my wolf was up for the chase. We raced off, silver glitter floating away in the wind behind us as I ran. This was heaven. In this form, I felt truly free. We spent hours running around chasing after Ares who never seemed to tire of having my wolf after him.

We were playing so hard, I didn't even notice the clouds rolling in. Not until the sky released a torrential rain shower, immediately soaking us to the core.

I yelped as I shifted back, completely freezing, covered in mud. My teeth were chattering. Ares handed me my clothes, not bothering to hide that he was looking.

I turned around as I slipped on my clothes, very aware of his gaze caressing my skin.

And then I got an idea.

As soon as I finished dressing, I leaned over and scooped up some mud…and then I turned and threw it right at his face, giggling hysterically as it splattered all over his shocked features.

“Did you really just do that?” he gasped, wiping mud off his lips.

I shrugged, giving him a daring stare.

“I’ll give you a head start.”

“A head start for what?” I asked.

“To run away before I get you back.”

I ran as he scooped up two handfuls and tossed them at me, shrieking when the cold mud hit my neck and slid down my shirt.

Deciding playing defense wasn’t working, I stopped and began to fling mud back at him.

Back and forth we went until we were absolutely covered.

And I was absolutely freezing.

"Truce? We should get you back before you freeze to death," he called over the wind and the rain. I nodded, because I was turning into a popsicle I was pretty sure, and he could get us back much faster than I could run.

He pulled me into his arms and we took off. I buried my face in his neck as the wind whipped past us. By the time we arrived at his house I no longer wasbecominga popsicle, Iwasone.

"All right, a bath for you," he murmured.

I sat on the bathroom tile, the floor soon covered with mud and water as it dripped off of us. The sound of my teeth chattering flooded the room, and I stared longingly at the bath. As it filled up, the steam from the water caressed the air.

"I think I’m frozen," I stuttered, and he stared over at me, concerned.

"I should've been paying better attention,” he growled.

I rolled my eyes. “I may do stupid crap sometimes, but I am a grown woman. I should've been paying attention as well. We were just having so much fun…"

He gave me a beautiful grin. "We were having fun, weren't we?"
