“Next time,” she confirms.

“Have fun with Oscar,” I tell her, leaning in to kiss her throat.

She lets out a little gasp of shock, and I can’t help the smile that twitches my lips.

“I’m not breaking the rules,” I say, as I tease her sensitive skin with feather-light kisses.

She groans, one arm going around my waist. “You are and you don’t even know it.”

“I’m not licking your mark,” I tell her. “I’m not using my tongue.”

“That was just the start of Oscar’s rules. I’m going to have to change my panties now.”

My dick goes from half-mast to full in a quarter of a second.

“That made you wet?” I stop to watch her face.

She nods slowly at me, pressing her black painted lips together. Her eyes are big and dark, and I can see the lust contained in them. Her cheeks have a pink tint that barely shows under her make up. Anyone else would never notice the hint of color in her pale skin, but it’s part of what happens when she starts to get aroused and I’m very attentive to what happens when she’s in that mood.

“Tonight is Oscar’s night,” I remind her, “But I’ll make the rules when it’s my turn to spend time alone with you, and he won’t be allowed in the same room for one second.”

I leave before I’m tempted to break another rule. That’ll only encourage Oscar to break my rules when the tables are turned, and I really can’t wait for those tables to be flipped.

My dick deflates once I’m far enough away that my wolf can’t smell our mate’s arousal as if she’s right next to us.

There are always teasing traces of her scent around the mansion. I love that this place always smells like her now. It makes it feel like home even if it’s a little on the grand side for my personal taste.

Wherever Cheryl spends her time is where I want to be.

Unfortunately, tonight I’m going to have to take my Alpha back to the room I’ve barely stepped inside in months, to try and teach him stuff that frustrates the hell out of him while my mind undoubtedly wanders to what might be going on back here.

I almost wish we really were going to the bowling alley. At least they have slushies. Brain freeze sounds more fun than the plans I currently have.

Chapter Eleven

Everett

IfindOscarinthe kitchen, making a mess, and I have my doubts about leaving him alone with our mate. He’s on the floor, digging around in one of the cupboards for the right pot to melt chocolate in, his muffled voice barely audible when it occurs to me this is more than just excitement from a typically excitable Omega. There’s a chaotic tinge to his actions right now.

I’ve seen this before, back when he refused to let himself shift form unless I locked him up in one of my late father’s cages in the basement.

He’d been getting over the fear that blocked him from fully connecting with his wolf, spending more and more time in his shifted form, learning to trust it.

It was going well. And now, we’re back to this?

I don’t understand.

“Ivy must have thrown it out,” Oscar says when he gives up on finding the pot.

He pulls himself up and leans against the counter, leaving a pile of pans on the floor at his feet.

“Damn,” he mutters, looking around. “Where was I?”

I shrug when he looks my way. It’s not like I was paying much attention to his words. It’s his behaviour that I can’t ignore right now. That’s what tells me he’s not okay.

Cheryl thinks she can help him, but it’s my job to look after our Omega.

I’m his Alpha. I’ve been his Alpha for a lot longer than Cheryl’s been our mate.
