Rachel raises her eyebrows. I let out a sigh.

“He’s the Alpha’s son.” Might as well confirm it, since they’ve already worked it out.

“Fucking hell,” Noah mutters, shaking his head.

I look at Rachel. “We should go speak to Everett before we leave.”

He needs to know, and they both should know about the ledger considering finding it is now part of the plan.

“Do we tell Vi and Ivy?” Noah asks.

I shake my head. “I’ll tell them when we get back. We can’t risk Leo overhearing anything. We don’t know how he might react.”

He hasn’t asked about his mother all day. I doubt he knows she left him here without intending to come back. He probably thinks she’s at work.

“Leo hasn’t asked about his mother so far,” I start. “If he asks, she’s working late.”

Noah nods. “You’ll bring her back here when it’s over, right?”

Hopefully, she’ll be easy to find once it’s over. She’ll have to know it’s safe then.

“That’s the plan,” I tell him.

Chapter Ninety-Four

Everett

Shouldhavelockedthefront gates last night. Someone slashed the tires on my car while we were sleeping. The other pack’s plan to slow us down started with a petty crime, and a seriously irritating one at that. I have a spare in the trunk, but I need to buy more before we can get moving.

I call the garage, wondering where the nearest car rental place is while I wait for someone to pick up. If I can’t get new tyres quickly enough, renting something’s the next best bet.

“Auto’s Parts,” the owner of the garage barks out.

“Hey, Auto,” I start. “It’s Everett Hartnett. I have a situation.”

“What kinda situation?” he asks, sounding suspicious.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he has to deal with all kinds of crazy shit around here.

Some of the Alphas at the academy are pretty fucking entitled, and their parents are loaded enough to let them get away with murder a million different ways.

“Someone slashed all my tyres last night. I need a new set. In fact, I’ll buy a new set and a complete set of spares, if you’ve got them.”

“Let me look up your car and I’ll check what I got.”

I wait, hoping to hell I don’t have to rent something.

I’m probably going to come back home covered in that Alpha’s blood.

Car rental companies don’t like that kind of thing.

“Here we go,” Auto says. “Yep. I got two sets for ya. You’ll want them dropped off, I expect?”

“I need them as soon as possible,” I tell him. “How quickly could you get them here?”

“Well, I’m pretty slammed, but I could be persuaded to take a break and deliver some tyres. How much do you need them?”

This is why I like this guy. Flash some extra cash and he’ll get things done.
