He always wanted more, and he was a fucking hypocrite.

“I need to clear this shit out,” I say, as I close the shutter.

“I’ll help you,” she says. “Later.”

Later. Right.

My anger needs to be directed at a different asshole Alpha today.

One I haven’t killed yet. One who deserves to be rotting in the ground.

“Are you ready to get going?” I ask her.

“We are,” she says.

I look up and see Rachel standing up, slipping her phone into her pocket.

“Ready,” she tells us.

I nod. “Let’s go.”

Chapter Ninety-Five

Cheryl

Everettstopsthecaroutside the gates of the mansion and gets out to close and lock them. I start to feel uneasy about leaving Vi without an Alpha’s protection. I turn to Rachel in the back seat.

“Is there a spell we could do to check if any of them are still lurking around?”

She frowns and then nods. “Give me a few seconds. I can check for shifters close by.”

Right. I probably could have done that spell. It’s basic, though it’s not exactly without fault. We can’t check for Limestone Ridge pack members. No spell is that precise, unless we know the specific people we’re looking for and we have something of theirs to track them with. But this one might be enough to tell us if someone’s closer to the property than they should be. That should be all we need.

Rachel closes her eyes. She murmurs under her breath.

I can feel her magic as if it’s brushing against my skin.

She invokes the spell and opens her eyes. “All clear,” she says. “There are three of us out here, two hybrids and an Alpha shifter. There are four inside. Two Betas, and two Omegas.”

I blink at her as the spell ends. “Two Omegas?”

She nods. “The kid. He’s an Omega, not a Beta.”

Everett comes back to the car and gets back in the driver’s seat. He glances at me, and doubletakes.

“What?” he asks, clearly noticing my shock and starting to worry.

“The kid. Leo. He’s an Omega,” I tell him.

His eyebrows jump up. “What? How…?”

“Rachel cast a spell to detect shifters in the area. The good news is there’s no one lurking around the mansion. The surprise is Leo is an Omega, not a Beta.”

“I guess he’s pretty excitable,” Everett murmurs. “Fuck.”

I know what he’s thinking, because I’m thinking it myself.

“We can’t leave two Omegas with two Betas for protection.”
