“It’s where you’re from, right?”

“It’s a witch town, so yeah, it’s possible you’re dealing with ghosts who have magic. I wouldn’t count that out. I can be there in five if you send me the address, but we might need a necromancer.”

“Dante’s getting his sister. I don’t know how long they’ll be.”

“Okay, sit tight, and I’ll be there.”

I put the phone in my pocket and force myself to stop pacing.

Lightning flashes above the haunted house and my heart starts to hammer in my chest.

Please let Rachel be okay. Please let all of them be okay.

I don’t know what I’d do if I lost any of them, and I don’t want to find out.

Chapter Fifty-Nine

Adrian

Mymusclesfeelheavyas I regain consciousness. I hurt all over, as if I was hit by a truck. Groaning, I flip onto my back, thinking it might be easier to push myself up that way.

Wrong. It’s harder.

What the fuck just happened?

I open my eyes to darkness. Even with enhanced shifter vision, I can’t tell where I am.

It feels like I’m on a cold, hard floor, but it also feels like I’m outside.

The sounds, the air. I can feel leaves and dirt beneath me when I use my hands to check.

I fall back when I try to sit up, letting out a weary sigh. It’s not possible.

Then, I roll back onto my front and close my eyes, shifting forms to enable my wounds to heal.

It feels like it worked. I hurt for a minute, all over, and then the pain is completely gone.

I’m about to shift back when suddenly the woods around me brighten.

I can see where I am, and I can see a man in dark clothing chasing a blonde woman up ahead.

No. This can’t be happening. Not again.

I take off in my wolf form, chasing until I reach them.

Rachel’s already on the ground, fighting him with her every breath.

She’s bleeding because he already cut her. She’s so close to death.

He’s so close to finishing a spell to sacrifice her soul, to damn her to hell.

I tear out his throat, making a real fucking mess as I kill him.

That’s the easy part. I could do it over and over again.

I’d never tire of taking his life.

He tried to take my true mate away. I’d kill him a million times over and it would never be enough.
