“And what does that have to do with a ghost?”

“No just any ghost.Theghost. The girl that’s been hanging around. The one that was killed by witches and warned us they were after Rachel.”

I blink and shake my head. “You’re not making any sense.”

“Here,” he says, turning the book to me and tapping on one of the pictures inside.

I frown at him, and he taps the page again.

“Just look.”

So, I do, and I feel the blood draining from my face. The guy he’s pointing at looks just like Silas.

“That,” he says, “Is the girl’s father. She’s hanging around because she’s Silas’ sister. Well, half-sister. Apparently, his mom slept with her dad.”

Shit. I know his mom told him his father didn’t live in town. That she couldn’t remember his name and she didn’t know how to contact him. Then she got sick, and she was gone. Her sister raised Silas.

Anger starts to bubble up inside me as I look at the picture.

This guy lives here. The cops informed him about his daughter being killed.

How could he have been here this whole time without trying to reach out to his son?

That’s fucked up. No wonder my Beta’s wolf took over when he found out.

“What did he do to the ghost?” I ask, closing the book.

Carter shrugs. “Walked away from her, I think.”

We need to do something about this. I just don’t know what.

It depends on how Silas feels about it. Ultimately, it’s up to him, even if my instincts tell me to go find this guy and demand answers, to find out why the hell he completely ignored his own kid. I doubt the answer would make me happy, so it’s probably better I don’t know.

Carter moves around me, going back to making toast.

“So that’s why he didn’t open the blinds yesterday.”

“He doesn’t want to speak to her.”

“Who doesn’t want to speak to who?” Rachel asks, as she steps into the room in a blue skirt and black T-shirt.

I look at Carter and he sighs. “You realize Silas is going to murder me for spilling his secrets?”

“Just show her. I’ll speak to Silas when he wakes up.”

“He told you about Sara, right?” Carter asks our mate.

Rachel frowns. “Sara, the ghost who’s been hanging around?”

“So, he didn’t mention it last night?”

She shakes her head. “I mean, we didn’t have a lot of conversation …”

“Don’t make me jealous,” Carter jokes, cutting her off.

“We spent most of the night playing games. It’s an arcade, Carter. It’s not exactly set up for sexy times.”

“But I bet sexy times were had.”
