Brianna carried an air of pride around her. I had seen her type before and I knew them well. She liked to do things on her own. She didn’t like to accept help from others because she felt like they would betray her eventually. She valued her own hard work because it made her feel capable, powerful and strong.

She looked over the pages and then shut the file. “Are you planning to screw me over at any point in time?”

Direct. I liked it.

“No. Are you?”

“No.” She straightened her back, her eyes coming back to me once more. “I haven’t read your contract at length but I will sign it. Firstly, for Michael because he deserves a good home and I know you can give him that.”

“Second?” I cocked an eyebrow at her.

“You don’t need to know that reason. Just know that I am someone who doesn’t go back on their word. So if I’m in this, which I am, I am in it for real. There will be no backstabbing or selling stories to the internet.”

I could respect that.

“And I will hold up my end of the deal and pay your desired amount.”

“Good.” She picked up the pen beside her and signed on the dotted line. She slid the file back to me and I signed under my name.

“The money will be in your account first thing Wednesday morning.” I was about to stand from my seat but she stopped me.

“We need to lay out some ground rules.” She cleared her throat. “I saw in the…umm…contract that I will be moving in with you.”

“Yes.”

“So I think it’s only right that we set some boundaries. Since we will be…cohabiting.”

I leaned back in my chair and watched her.

I could tell that my gaze affected her in some way. She fidgeted a little in her chair before she spoke again.

“I understand that you are a single man and you may have…urges. I just ask that you keep any friends of that nature away from the house.”

“Friends of that nature?”

“You know what I mean.” Heat rushed to her cheeks.

“No I don’t. Please enlighten me, Miss Scott.” Messing with her was amusing.

She gave me an incredulous stare. “Come on. I don’t have to spell it out for you, do I?”

I kept looking at her.

“Dontbringyourbootycallshere.” The words tumbled so fast out of her mouth I didn’t catch them.

“Sorry what?”

She huffed in frustration. “Mr Farrington.”

“Miss Scott.” Messing with her was too easy.

“Fine. You want me to say it? I will say it. I don’t want you to bring your booty calls here. I think it’s just a respect thing. I don’t want to have to witness them do the walk of shame.”

“Done.” I said simply, “anything else?”

It wasn’t even like I had booty calls.

She gaped at me with her mouth hanging open. “Umm…I mean no. Everything is pretty clear.”
