“Ms Harper please you will wake—”

“Farrington. I am a Farrington you old hag!”

That was it. I was done listening to this. She would not come into this home and bad mouth Delilah.

I rounded the corner with Michael in my arms.

“I think she told you to leave Adriana!”

Her eyes filled with vengeful fury turned to me. She looked like an angry bull let out of its cage. “You!”

She stormed over to me on a mission.

This was going to end very badly for one of us.

COMING TO BLOWS

Gabriel

My head was pounding. I groaned and turned to the other side of my bed. This was one of those rare moments I wanted to sleep the day away and not wake up until I was good and ready.

Why had I let Dominic talk me into drinking?

“Get the hell out!” I heard Brianna scream.

I sat up abruptly, my body already in panic mode. I waited for a beat wondering if I had imagined it.

“The hell I will! You whore!” Adriana’s wail reached my ears and I knew for a fact I was not imagining anything. This was really happening.

I pulled the blanket off my body and ran out of my room and headed toward the commotion. As I drew closer the sounds got louder and the deep sinking feeling in my chest intensified.

I had just made it to the bottom step when I heard the crashing of something on the floor.

“You have lost your fucking mind, Adriana.”

I rounded the corner and saw little shards all around Brianna’s feet. There were little cuts on her bare shins but she didn’t look to be in any pain.

“What the hell is going on here?”

Adriana reared her head toward me and stared me down. “What the fuck is this?”

She pulled up her phone that had an article about Brianna being my new girlfriend.

“It’s a news outlet.”

“Are you serious right now?” She looked at me with a mixture of fury and hurt. “You are dating her?”

“Who I do and don’t date is none of your business. I no longer have to answer to you. You are my ex-wife. Emphasis on the ex part. You shouldn’t even have access to this floor anymore.”

“I am still a Farrington. I never changed my name.”

“But you should. You have no connection to my family apart from my son. The only reason I put up with your bullshit is because of him. Now unless you want to be escorted out by police I suggest you leave on your own.”

She growled and pointed one of her acrylic nails at me. “I forbid her to be Michael’s nanny. This little thing between you two is insane. And I don’t want Michael getting confused.”

Brianna scoffed. “I have practically been with him since birth. If anything, I am a part of Michael’s normal. Taking me away would be what confuses him.”
