I’m giving you until ten. If you’re not here with the necklace, you’re a dead woman.

Oliver and I both glance at the clock on the nightstand. Shit. Looks like I’m a dead woman.

“Should I text him?”

Oliver is silent before saying, “Let’s find the others. They need to be here for this.”

My hands are sweaty as we leave Oliver’s room. I’m surprised when he takes me outside, to the garage.

“We’re going to the Batcave? Am I dressed okay?”

He laughs. “You and your clothes are fine. Come on.”

He opens the door, motioning for me to enter first. There are two cars parked in front, but I see the ramp that must lead to the lower level.

“Elevator is over here.”

“You have an elevator in your garage?”

He grins. Inside the elevator, I realize there’s three levels below us. We go to the lowest level and step out. Oh my good god. There’s an actual dungeon down here, but this one doesn’t look very sexy. In fact, it looks like they could really torture someone down here if needed. My skin is clammy. What if their fetish is pain? I am so not about that life!

“Atticus. Finn. Come here.”

Finn puts down a metal chain and makes his way to me. Was he making that chain?

“You do metal work?”

He shrugs. “It’s a hobby.”

Atticus grins as he joins us. “Some might call it a fetish.”

“So you were kidding about a red room of pain?” I pout. “Dang. I was getting my hopes up.”

“Like I said, we can still make something happen. As you can see, there are things that can be used for fun.”

“No time for fun,” I say with a shake of my head. “I’m a dead woman walking.”

His eyebrow lifts. “Oliver? Translate, please.”

Oliver answers, “Wolfe threatened her.”

I show them the text messages. By the time they’re done looking, Finn grabs the phone, throwing it against the wall. I can’t even be mad about it. I mean, it cost like twenty bucks and was almost out of minutes.

Atticus says, “We’re not going to let him hurt you.”

“Okay.”

“Okay?”

I nod. “I trust the three of you.”

Something flickers in his gaze. “Okay then. We need a plan.”

Finn says, “This would be a lot easier if Midas was in town. He could call Woodcutter and tell him we need to borrow the necklace.”

Oliver and Atticus make sounds of agreement.

“Can’t the three of you just go over there yourselves?”
