My phone goes off with a text. Like a zombie I check it. It’s Milos. Two of his brothers are arriving within the hour. He’ll be home around the same time. Aleksander will also join us to properly meet me. I will need to change from whatever I meet them in to something more formal for dinner, so keep it in mind.

That’s it? I blink back tears. Another text.

Takea nice hot soak for your soreness. I didn’t dare be there when you woke or I would have left you in pain.

Sighing in relief,I wipe the tears that spilled over. I remember Christy’s warning, don’t fight him. If I do he’ll keep fighting back. Milos himself warned me and made a promise if I was a good girl I could get everything I wanted. But was it truly possible? The only thing I wanted was his love.

Milos

There isno response to my text. I check the cameras in her room again. The alert of movement told me she woke almost ten minutes ago, it’s why I sent the text. Wanting contact with her.

I see she’s wiping her eyes. Shit, I should have been there when she woke up. It didn’t matter I wanted to wake her up with my cock inside her again and she was far too sore for that. For her I should have found my damn control to give her what she needed.

Yet all I could think of is the blood on the duvet cover I removed this morning. Christ, no wonder she had screamed. It was a lot of damn blood. Last night, I’d gotten up when I could finally find the strength and cleaned the both of us with hand towels. But my mind was still in a sex haze, barely taking anything in. My only goal to get her under the covers and back into my arms.

The men at Carlo’s home eye me with contention, no one happy I called him only a half hour ago and was already here. Usually Carlo made people wait days, even weeks before seeing them. I didn’t give him an option. If he didn’t meet with me today, there would be no wedding.

I grab the large carrier bag that holds the stupid duvet cover and get out of the SUV.

Cassandra opens the door the way she usually does. Her eyes are wide with surprise. “Carlo is waiting.”

I nod, going into the office. Closing the door firmly, I put the bag on his desk, reach into my inner pocket—he jumps until he sees it’s just a piece of paper. I open it and place it face up on his desk.

“Those are the only sheets you’re going to get. This is our marriage certificate. What the hell you do with it, I don’t care. We’re married. We’ll do the ceremony but she’s mine. Try and take her from me and you’ll start a war. I have no problem destroying you.” I turn to leave.

The bastard laughs. “Wait, damn it.”

Turning, I eye him. I don’t trust him. I don’t care if he does genuinely care for Celia or not. “That call to Dominic was to get you here. I found out a little something. You’ve been watching and waiting for her. Cassandra was at home the other day. Neighbor mentioned you. Said you and your men been at the house before, but a long time ago.”

I don’t bother to lie. “Yes.”

His eyes narrow. “How long?”

“Since the February morning she first came to you and begged you for money so she could go to school. I saw her and she was mine.” Celia is in my home with a wedding ring beside her engagement ring, I’m no longer concerned about Carlo knowing that Celia has always been mine.

A sly smile. “You’re the bastard who paid for her school, that car, and the phone.”

I nod. “I gave her everything she wanted. Everything she deserved. What you should have given her but didn’t.”

He doesn’t like that. “I was trying to keep her safe.”

Wrong, so damn wrong. “No, you were trying to keep her locked in a box. She wasn’t safe. If she had been, I would never have gotten close. Never been able to make her fall in love with me. I’m not the man she deserves. I don’t care. I’m never letting her go. What you didn’t do doesn’t matter anymore. She has me. I’m all she needs.”

His jaw clenches tight. “I got another note today. It’s why I didn’t argue with you coming over here. Said they were sad Celia found her forever. At least Carina was still available.”

My whole body goes tight at the idea of anyone thinking of Celia. Even if it sounds as if they aren’t looking at her anymore.

“Keep an eye on Celia. My number one in Vegas gave everything up for a woman.” He shakes his head in disgust. “He’s here in Chicago. His second in Vegas is going to get Carina as a requirement to taking over. With her out of the city I don’t have to worry about her. I believe you’ll keep Celia safe. But Carina doesn’t listen for shit. Do what you can to get Celia to see this as a good thing. Get her to try and talk Carina into it.”

I don’t bother to tell him there’s no way Celia is going to see her little sister forced into a marriage far away from her in Vegas as a good thing. “I’ll do what I can. I’m going to follow up with Valdez. Do you have the note?”

He nods, handing me a Ziploc bag with a heavy stock plain white card.

“If he gets anything off it, I’ll let you know.” I walk away from him. Wondering who the fuck I need to kill to keep Celia safe, and more than happy to do it.

Celia

After a long soakin the decadent bathtub, I get dressed and order breakfast in my room. Well, more like brunch, which is why I have it in my room. I’m too embarrassed to go downstairs and ask for breakfast at almost eleven, but too hungry to wait until lunch which I’m told isn’t until twelve thirty.
