“I’ll have our housekeeper add the syrups and some caramel sauce to the grocery shopping. Next time you’ll make the coffee,” I inform her.

Her nod is excited. “My turn. I used to trade buying coffee and lunch with Presley. I miss her.”

“You’ll talk to her again.” The doorbell goes off. “Go have a seat in the dining room, I’ll get the food.”

I open the door to find David holding the bag of food as if he were holding a bag of shit. “What’s the matter with you?”

His shrug is sullen. “Nothing.”

Christ, I do not need this. If he keeps this up, I will kill his ass.

Phoenix surprises me by not simply waiting for me at the table, she’s gotten plates as well as knives and forks and is setting the table. Feeling my eyes on her, she looks up with a curious smile.

“Nikita declares this is the best sushi place in all of Chicago.” I hide my thickening cock behind a chair as I set the large paper bag on the table.

“I’ve heard of it but never tried it.” She begins removing the food from the bag.

“Wine?” I ask.

She considers the question. “I’ve never…”

“No problem if you don’t want any—”

“I would like to try some, if it’s okay?” She’s hesitant.

“Of course. I’ll grab a glass for you. You don’t have to keep drinking it if you don’t like it. Is there something else you want in case you don’t like it?”

“I like the pomegranate juice Amaya made me drink.”

“Pomegranate juice coming right up.” In the kitchen I clean up from the coffee I made, then find the pomegranate juice she mentioned. I find a red wine that will go perfectly with my steak. To carry everything, I load a tray and carry it into the formal dining room.

I pour her a glass of pomegranate juice from the carafe I brought in with me from the kitchen. And a much smaller pour of the red wine in case she doesn’t like it.

“I'm sorry you don't like sushi,” Phoenix mutters as she takes in my plate.

“Don't apologize. As you can see there are other things on their menu I do enjoy. This is a restaurant my brothers and I eat from often. There are a few rolls I like if I’m in the mood for it. Try the wine.” I motion with my own glass before I take a sip.

Her sip is timid, more of a lick of the liquid with her tongue. My cock jumps at the peek of her tongue.Christ, get ittogether, I order myself as my hand tightens around the stem of the glass until I wonder if I’ll break it.

Setting my own glass down, I focus on my steak. Her slight hum of pleasure slides down my spine.

“This is good. Can I try more?”

I nod. I take the glass from her and pour her a full glass.

“Your brother…Milos. Won’t he have something to say about you marrying me?”

“He is aware. He is fine with our marriage. The bastard stole my idea, in fact. All he cares is we appear the boring, staid businessmen with a wife, two point three children, and a pet. I don’t care if it’s a dog or a cat. Although my dear sister-in-law will be of help should you desire a cat.” I don’t miss the way she reacts at my mention of children. I’m glad my instinct for the doctor to give her a birth control shot while she was out was the right thing.

Children are not a requirement for me. Reading some of the case studies of women who went through what she did, many of them had preferred to never have children out of fear of not being able to protect them. There were also some women who feared they might do awful things. The shot would give her time to decide.

“What I desire is to go home.” Then she remembers. “I can’t believe you sold my home.”

“I’m your home. If you don’t want to live here, we can live in the house near the club, although it will need to be redone. I hate how shiny it is. There are also two homes on my family’s property in the suburbs we can choose from. Our family has even more properties for us to choose from. Or we can buy a different place in the city or the suburbs.”

I purchased her home through the Levin corporation. Our real estate portfolio is extensive, we own more than two dozen homes, condos, and the buildings we operate out of. Most of the homes and condos were lived in by our best employees. Milos wasn’t happy I overpaid by a hundred grand for it. I didn’t care, I wanted her savings account to have more than a million in case she should ever need it. Once there is no concern she’ll run for the place, I’ll tell her.

Her forehead crinkles. “Two homes are sitting empty, or are you going to kick someone else out of their home? I’m not going to be responsible for kicking someone out.”
