That flush touched her ears, my smile widening.

My head cocked. “Or your little criminal activity.”

This girl had a history, not a long one, but way more shit than someone her age should have.

And all before her eighteenth birthday.

I honestly had been surprised to find it all, but I’d been delighted. It gave me what I needed, fuel and some shit on her I could definitely use.

Fawn recovered quickly, fluffing her hair out again, but I observed she didn’t hit me with it this time. “I wasn’t required to disclose that when applying,” she said, and though she tried to sound calm, she wasn’t fucking fooling anyone. Hazel irises blazed at me. “And I don’t appreciate you just putting that out here like that.”

I was sure she didn’t, sitting back. My food came in, and she watched as I popped pancakes into my mouth.

“And they can’t kick me out for that anyway.” She stated this, but I had to say, she didn’t sound so sure.

I laughed, adding a second round of syrup to my plate. “Nah, but I’m sure you know Pembroke has a standard.” I peered over her again, and the look she shot me could have killed my ass.Hate me already, Red?I grinned. “They don’t like bullshit, and they don’t like drama.”

Her little lips puckered like she sucked a lemon. “I’m not drama.”

“Oh, you’re drama.” Chuckling, I pointed my fork at her. “And you’ve also caught on to the radar of one of the Legacy families.”

“Legacy families?”

I swear to God for a girl who reported news she was living under a rock. “Yeah.Legacy. My friends and I own this campus, baby.” She winced after I said that, no doubt because of what I called her, but I didn’t give a shit. My head tilted. “Let’s just say, we come from a long line of influence. You bother one of us. You bother all of us.”

“I haven’t bothered,” she started, but then she stopped. She knew good and well she bothered me. I mean, we were fucking here, weren’t we?

I nodded. “This university doesn’t want drama, and by crossing one of their most influential families, you’ve created it. Pembroke value us. They valueme,so if I got a problem with someone attending their school, they don’t ask questions.” I got close, studying that flush across the bridge of her nose. “They just bow.”

They served me,mine, and the same went for this girl in the booth with me. The minute Fawn Greenfield had decided to snap her little pictures my junior year, she’d made an enemy out of me. She’d becomemine. She was mine.

And she owed me.

Her life and everything she held valuable belonged to me, and I knew that just as well as her reaction to me threatening her yesterday. This school and that internship meant something to her, and her mistake was letting me find out about that.

I really had to give it to Fawn in that moment. Because despite my threats, my proximity, all she did was hold her little camera bag, her hands knuckle-white on it.

Pushing her, I looped a finger around that red hair. Right away, she lodged a shoulder into me, but all that did was force my fingers into her scalp. She screeched, but that cut off when I made her look at me. “You’re out of this school with a call, and the same goes for your internship.”

Letting her go, I allowed my finger to follow a strand down from her scalp, and the hate that returned to her eyes sent that thrill through my dick again. That really was some freak shit, dangerous…

I forced myself to let go, sitting back. “I think we both know Kurt’s not going to want anything to do with you. You’re dead in the water with the school, but there’s always other schools.” I forked a piece of pancake. “I suppose there are other internships too, but Kurt knows people. Word will get around. I mean those pictures…”

Fawn froze, her eyes completely expanded. She knew what pictures I meant.

After all, she was there.

She’d seen in full detail what she’d done. She touched the table. “Wolf…”

“And what’s ironic about it all is you made the shitI didin high school look like a school yard fight. At least, the dude whose ass I kicked could kind of walk after the stadium fight.”

“Wolf—”

“You put that girl in intensive care forweeks,” I stated, smiling. “I mean, her face didn’t even look right after you—”

She tried to slap me in that moment.

I got her wrist.
