“Share a bottle of wine with me, please?”
“No. I don’t drink when I’m working.” That came out a lot more sternly than I meant. Chloe’s expression shows the hurt my words created. I didn’t mean how it sounded, I don’t think of Chloe as work. I need to keep my wits about me, and alcohol will jeopardise that, and I will not jeopardise Chloe’s safety. I’m just about to apologise and explain when the waiter arrives to take our order.
We order a mixture of different seafood, and Chloe gets herself a bottle of wine.
Chloe begins drinking the wine extremely fast, and I know it’s because I’ve upset her. I take her hand across the table.
“I’m sorry Clo. You know that I don’t think of you as work. I care about you so much, I cannot let anything happen to you. I need to be on top form twenty-four seven. I can’t lose you, Clo, do you hear me?” She nods, picks up her glass, then downs the rest of the wine.
We enjoy the rest of the evening, talking and laughing about our day. But I still feel Clo has closed off. I could kick myself for what I said earlier. I’ve just got her to let her guard down and now she’s put some of those walls back up.
After a trip to the gents’ room, I find a waiter sat in my seat filling up Chloe’s wine glass and saying something that has Chloe in fits of giggles. My blood boils. How F**king dare he. Neither of them notices me approach until I am stood directly behind the waiter. Chloe eyes meet mine, the laugher disappears from her face as she notices my annoyance. The waiter continues to talk in spite of my presence. I take the back of my chair and pull it out from under him. The waiter falls on the floor.
“You are in my seat.” I say as he scrambles to feet. I wait for him to scuttle of into the kitchen before I sit down. Chloe has a smirk across her face. She does this on purpose, I am sure of it.
“Do you remember what I said to you before our first time?”
“Yes.”
“Complete fidelity.”
“Yes, I remember.”
“Good, because if you flirt him again, I will take you right now and show everyone who you belong to.”
Chloe raises one eye brow, and for a moment I think she might test my threat.
Bring it on.
But she thinks better of it. A good job really, we are supposed to be keeping a low profile. Without taking her eyes off me she downs the last bit of her wine.
“Let’s go big boy.”
Chloe’s a little tipsy on our walk back. We walk along the beach paddling our feet in the waves as they crash over the sand.
“I’ve just had the best idea, let’s go skinny dipping.” Chloe starts pulling her dress up over her body.
“Not a chance little lady!” I pick her up and throw her over my shoulder smacking her bum as I do. “You’ve caused me enough trouble already!” I carry a giggling Chloe back to our cottage and take her straight to bed.
“Lie with me, Josh.” I snuggle in next to her. Today’s fresh air and the wine have gone to her head, she is soon fast asleep. I lie and watch her as she sleeps until my arm is completely dead and I’m falling asleep myself. I gently roll her over and retire to my own room. I can feel sleep finally taking me and I don’t want to be near Chloe when it does.
When I wake in the morning I feel a body next to me. Startled, I sit up to see Chloe laying completely still by my side. “Clo! Clo!” I shake her to get a response.
“What, what is?” thank goodness.
“What the hell are you doing in here?”
“Hey calm down Mr. I woke up in the night having had a nightmare and I couldn’t get back to sleep.”
“Are you sore anywhere? Did I hurt you?”
“No, Josh, I’m fine. Hey, Come here.” Chloe wraps her arms around me and I start to relax a little. I didn’t realise how fast my heart was beating until now. I couldn’t bare it if I had hurt her.
“Look Josh. I sleep better when I’m next to you. You make me feel so safe I don’t have nightmares. Maybe it is the same with you? Think about it. Whenever you have fallen asleep with me, You’ve never suffered from one.” She is right come to think of it, but, it could all be a coincidence. I sit still for a while not saying anything, enjoying her holding me.
“You’re so tense Josh, Lie on your front let me release some of the tension for you.” I do as she says and enjoy those small magical fingers. They send tingles all the way through my body and end up in my d**k. When I’m about to explode I flip us both over and show her how good she makes me feel.
