“So what would you like to do first?” I ask, to which Damien turns to face me raising an eye brow.

“First, I would like to ‘do’ my wife.” Mmm I love it when he calls me wife.

“Oh yeah and what is it you would like to ‘do’ to your wife?”

“Get up those stairs right now and I will show you!” he lunges towards me, I run up the stairs with him following right behind. He playfully smacks my bum as he catches up to me.

Damien

After getting a fill of my wife and making sure she feels completely loved and satisfied, we go for a walk in the village. It’s a busy little place with mainly locals but a few tourists. The tourists stand out like sore thumbs, especially Bella and I. Everyone is very friendly, stopping to say hello and make general small talk. Bella seems happier and relaxed which I am pleased about, I unfortunately cannot say the same about myself. Last night Penny answered a call from Chloe. Penny followed instructions, telling Chloe Bella wasn’t there and had gone away. I didn’t sleep all night. Something is about to happen I can feel it. I am ready for this to be the end of the nightmare. Still not fully aware of Cains where abouts I decided to get away from London. The main reason being that I need to be closer to Josh in case I am needed, and I have to keep Bella away from any trouble. There’s only me from Kings security who knows where Josh and Chloe are. I can’t risk Cain finding out. I’m hoping he shows up at Kingston where my men are ready and waiting but I think he is more intelligent than that.

“Can we go in here?” Bella tugs my arm towards a second-hand bookshop.

“Of course.”

Bella browses happily like she hasn’t a care in the world. There are old books and new. I watch as Bella’s fingers tips slide gently over the spines of the books, until she sees something that catches her eye and removes it from the shelf. The excited expression on her face as she thinks of the story beneath those pages and the people that have gotten lost in them before her. This is what she deserves, this is what I will give her and my child everyday of their lives. Once Cain is out of the picture, I will ensure that. After picking out a few old romance books, Bella pays, and we continue our stroll down the cobbled street.

“What do you fancy for your dinner? I’ll cook, anything you’d like?” I say as I point to a nice-looking butchers.

We choose some steaks for dinner, some bits for breakfast bacon, sausage, as well as a few other items the butcher recommended. We then go to the greengrocers next door and now have bags full of food which will last us days. Once we get back to the cottage, I light the log fire and start preparing dinner. Bella gets changed into her PJ’s and sits on the sofa in front of the fire reading one of her new books.

After dinner I ring Josh again. Still no answer. I have been trying since we received the call from Chloe. We aren’t scheduled to ring until tomorrow, so Josh doesn’t have a reason to be near the phone. As it’s a discreet radio phone, there is only a small light as an alert to an incoming call, so unless he is sat with it, he won’t know I am ringing. I need to alert Josh that Cain may know their location now. The Kingston phone lines have a block to stop anyone tapping into them, but if you’re a skilled IT fanatic which I am told Cain is, he can probably break through it. I will wait until our scheduled call tomorrow and if there is no answer, I will have no choice but to go to them.

The next day we walk along the beach, it’s not warm but it isn’t too cold. We are wrapped up in our coats and its quite pleasant as the wind blows in our face and hair. We walk hand in hand not speaking just taking in the world around us. Bella is so happy. This is something we need to do more often. Take a break from the busy city life. I want this life for my family, relaxed and carefree.

I’m not sure how long this bubble will last it could be days or weeks but I know the end is near.

It’s just gone midnight. Bella and I are in bed, my phone buzzes lighting up the room with an incoming call. I look at the screen to see Mr Graves’s name flashing at me. I quickly but quietly leave the room.

“Yes?”

Chapter 19

Damien

“I’ve had word on Cains where abouts. He knows where they are. He’s probably there already. I am on my way, about 20 minutes away.”

“No Mr Graves leave this to me do not go near them.”

“I have to, If I explain to Cain, it may defuse the situation.”

I have no idea how this will pan out. I just know I need to get myself and my team there as soon as possible.

“I am 30 minutes away. Ring me when you get there and let me know the situation.”

I end the call and take a moment to mentally prepare myself. This is the moment I have been waiting for. The time I knew would arrive. The time to end Cain once and for all. I am ready.

“Sweetheart, you need to get dressed. We need to leave quickly.”

“Why what’s going on?”

“We are going to Josh and Chloe. They need our help.”

Bella’s eyes widen, she immediately climbs out of bed. Quickly throwing on her tracksuit we are out of the cottage and speeding down the motorway in seconds.

We have been staying 30 minutes away from Josh and Chloe. I also have members of my team in various locations nearby. They didn’t know they were placed there for that reason, just that they were completing a mission. They will be arriving about the same time we will. Bella will stay with them while I sort Cain, once and for all.

Bella is staring out of the window, twiddling her fingers.
